Valero Benicia Refinery Donates $118,000 to Benicia Community Action Council and Solano Meals on Wheels

On October 7, Valero Benicia Refinery presented the Benicia Community Action Council a check in the amount of $59,000 representing the proceeds from their annual ‘Sporting Clays’ fundraiser held in August.  An equal amount was presented at the same time to Solano Meals on Wheels.

Viola Robertson, Executive Director of the Benicia CAC, expressed the agency's gratitude to Josh Tulino, Vice President and Refinery Manager of Valero.

According to Robertson, Valero has been a steadfast and loyal supporter of the BCAC for many years now.

The funds generated by the event have been earmarked for the Community Action Council’s “Senior Meal Program” which delivers hot meals to Benicia seniors five days a week.

Since 1977, Meals on Wheels of Solano County has helped support senior independence, health and wellbeing by providing nutritious meals, support services and human connection.

Laurie Hartmann, Executive Director, stated “we are so very grateful to Valero’s Benicia Refinery staff for selecting Meals on Wheels as a recipient for this year’s Clay Shoot.  Everyone involved has a passion for helping their neighbors and this supports our vision for a community in which all seniors live nourished lives with independence and dignity. These types of community partnerships are the lifeblood of our success.”

Benicia Community Action Council is an "umbrella" agency providing vital assistance and relief to the community.  It offers guidance, resources and referrals to Benicians striving for self-sufficiency and has been doing so since 1967.
