Reports Released: Benicia-Valero Cooperation Agreement & ESG Report

The Valero Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Report provides an in-depth review of the actions Valero is taking right now in areas related to environment, safety, people, community and governance. The report highlights Valero’s path to reducing and displacing 100% of its global refinery Scope 1 and Scope 2 2035 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 2035 and multi-billion dollar investment in low-carbon fuels. The report also showcases Valero’s community partnerships and investment as well as how the company is committed to building the best teams while providing a safe, healthy, and inclusive work environment. The City of Benicia - Valero Cooperation Agreement requires that an Annual Report is published each year. The report is designed to provide confirmation that both parties are continuing to meet each component and goal of the Agreement. The primary goals of the Agreement are to Improve communication, coordination, and cooperation between the City and Valero; Enhance emergency preparedness; Increase the efficiency of the City's response to accidental release of hazardous substances; Increase public notification and awareness; and Include access to reports and inspection results. Volunteer with The Benicia Tree Foundation

Join Valero employees and the Benicia Tree Foundation on Tree Care Day. Volunteers are needed for the following dates:


  • Sept. 10, Henderson Elementary
  • Sept. 15, Lake Herman Open Space
  • Oct. 8, Arbor Day at Duncan Graham Park
  • Oct. 20, Columbus Pkwy & Military West offramps
  • Nov. 12, Lake Herman Open Space
  • Nov. 17, Liberty High and Semple Elementary
  • Dec. 10, Lake Herman Open Space
  • Dec. 15, Benicia Community Park


Volunteers will be assisting with tasks like watering, mulching, pruning, and planting trees. Tools and training will be provided and volunteers are advised to wear closed-toe shoes. The Tree Care Day on Caltrans right-of-way has a minimum age of 16. Otherwise, children under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Annual Sporting Clays Invitational Recap 

Valero Benicia employees participated and contributed to the 9th Annual Sporting Clays Invitational, where over $100,000 was raised to benefit the Benicia Community Action Council (BCAC & Meals on Wheels of Solano County. Both of these agencies are United Way Bay Area charity partners and the refinery appreciates all of the sponsors and volunteers who participated to make this event a fun and financial success! Benicia-Tula Sister City Program 

Valero received a commendation for being an active sponsor of the student exchange program for The Sister City Program. Benicia’s Sister City is Tula, Hidalgo, Mexico.The Sister City Program helps students and residents develop a mutual understanding of both cultures through a formal association that generates respect and friendship between the residents of these cities.
