Letter from Board Chair, Jeff Zande

Dear Reader,

In the early part of 2020, just as the pandemic had begun to grip the nation, I was afforded the opportunity to join the Benilde Hall Board of Directors. After reading and learning about Benilde Hall and the community it was serving, I was excited to provide whatever support and guidance I could impart as a board member. As I look back on the last couple of years, it never ceases to amaze me the level of passionate care and dedication the staff of Benilde Hall exerts every day on behalf of its residents. To successfully achieve what they did living through the restrictions of the pandemic and since has been so inspiring. I also realize what I view as a board member is only a fraction of what occurs on a continuous basis. Whether it be enhancing care for current residents, exploring and developing ways and means to expand the facilities, the ongoing development of the staff, broadening the message of Benilde Hall more widely across the Kansas City area, etc. the initiatives and efforts taken on by the professional men and women of Benilde Hall never takes a day off. It's been an honor to play a small part in support and growth of this mission and, along with the staff and my peers on the board, I look forward to continued growth across a number of spheres in 2023.

Christmas at Benilde Hall

Through the Moulton Fund, we were able to gift each of our clients a jacket, boots, socks, and gloves for the holidays. Thank you to the Moulton Fund for making this possible!

Benilde Hall Expansion

Benilde Hall is expanding! We bought a new house conveniently located next door to Benilde Hall to be used for our Executive offices. This expansion will allow us to turn current office space into 10 new beds for Benilde Hall clients.

Our Executive Director Ken Vick and Benilde Services worked hard to build an additional deck for our new house. Thank you!

Donor Spotlight:

KC Cattle Company

Benilde Hall's Safe Haven program was chosen to be KC Cattle Company's latest Give Back Ground Beef recipient.

As of January 4th, 2023, KC Cattle Company has made 4 donations of ground beef, totaling 240 lbs of ground beef donated since their Giving Tuesday launch on November 29th, 2022. We are excited to announce that we will continue to be their Give Back Ground Beef recipient until the end of Q1.

As of December 31st, KC Cattle Company customers donated 189 lbs of ground beef. KC Cattle Company is matching customer donations 1 for 1, amounting to 378 lbs of ground beef donated overall.

Crochet with Tiffany Hansen

We want to thank content creator Crochet with Tiffany Hansen for putting together the Benilde Hall Crochet Christmas Campaign.

Through Tiffany Hansen's campaign, our clients were gifted 325 beanies/hats, 86 scarves, 52 mittens/gloves, 25 blankets, 4 shawls, 1 poncho, 1 vest, 7 soap sacks, 2 leg warmers, 9 headbands, 5 men's socks packages, and 3 women's socks packages.
