Benin/Niger Training

I celebrated America’s Independence Day in Benin.  No fireworks, no hot dogs, and no other fellow Americans to talk to.  However, it was great to teach students from both Benin and Niger.  The translation was a bit tough, as it was in French and Hausa, but the interpreters were great.  Our Egyptian partner, Streams International, reported that in Benin over the past year, 14 dedicated teams have launched 16 new churches and an additional 42 smaller groups are meeting regularly for encouragement and spiritual growth.

I am so grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to serve Him in this ministry.  And I am thankful to Him for all of you who stand with us in prayer and support.

50 Year Journey - The Mari of Russia

More than twenty years ago, I had the privilege of partnering with Craig Ludrick and Church Leadership Development (CLDI.org) to train church planters in Ukraine and Russia.

One of my most intriguing trips took me east of the Volga River in Russia, to a region known as Mari El. It was there that I first encountered another unreached people group—the Mari, sometimes referred to as “the last pagans of Europe.” At that time, there were fewer than fifty known Christian believers among them.

Twenty-six years later, the spiritual need remains immense. Among a population of roughly half a million Mari, fewer than 2 percent are evangelical believers. Despite the passing of more than two decades, they remain one of Europe’s least-reached peoples.

I later wrote a blog post about our visit with some Mari believers. I would encourage you to read more of their story and see additional pictures from that trip. Read the blog post by clicking the link below.

Man in the middle led his two brothers to Christ.

The journey continues as I leave for Egypt next week.
