August 2020 Bennington Museum Monthly We loved seeing so many of you out at the Museum this past month both in the building and virtually for one of our many online talks. As we move into the dog days of summer, we look forward to sharing even more amazing programs with you. Read on to see what might strike your fancy. Perhaps you want to try your hand at poetry , or maybe you have a question about that strange mushroom you found in your backyard. Have you always wanted to learn how to paint ? And aren't you dying to know what women's underwear was like this past century? Come explore, learn, and enjoy Bennington Museum with us this month. There is something for everyone!

Fridays in the Courtyard

July proved that the Museum courtyard is a fantastic outdoor gathering place to unwind after a long work week. In August, the Museum will continue to host events on Friday nights, accompanied by beer and tacos a la Avocado Pit. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket and enjoy these summer evenings while they last! The line-up: August 7:   Matt & Megan  – Acoustic pop and jazz August 14:   Judith Schwartz  book release and reading followed by music with Joe Tucker August 21:   Big Stone Gap – Appalachian Bluegrass August 28:   Banulis, Miller & Green Jazz Bennington Museum will live-stream the performances on facebook and provide an online link for anyone who would like to donate to the artists . Pretty in Pink: a Courtyard + Cork Event

This event will explore rosé wines in all their blushing facets and is the second event in a partnership series with Couch & Cork that will extend into the Fall. Saturday, August 22nd from 6pm to 7:30pm (rain date Sunday, August 23rd)  Limited to 12 people (8 minimum with reservations made 1 week in advance) Price: $60/$50 per person/member

Pick of the Week Come explore the changing exhibitions at Bennington Museum this summer, and don't forget to vote on your favorite object in the People's Choice exhibition while you are here. Each week we will count the votes and award a blue ribbon to the object that gets the most. Award winners so far have included a giant fungus, a blown glass orb, and the 33 Star Civil War Flag.
