On January 18, we had the pleasure of attending an incredible ribbon cutting at One Life Natural Market in Dunn, NC.

The support displayed by not only one, but five different Chambers, was truly touching. Linda and her team went above and beyond to provide an exceptional atmosphere and showed their gratitude to each individual there. Witnessing the entire community unite was a beautiful sight and was an experience we will never forget.

Congratulations to One Life Natural Market on this well-deserved milestone! Here's to the future, filled with many more years of success.

NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS!

Town of Benson News

IMPORTANT: ROUNDABOUT WORK NOTICE

NCDOT contractors are set to begin work on the new roundabout at the intersection of Main Street (NC50) and Wall Street (US301) in the coming weeks. Crews are expected to mobilize by January 30, 2024, but area fencing and minor prep work could take place the week prior at the intersection.

The intersection is scheduled to be fully closed beginning January 30 for 60 days to complete the roundabout. NCDOT will install detour signage around area to assist motorists in navigating around the work zone. Truck traffic will use I-40 and I-95. Local traffic will be directed onto Parrish and Church. Some portion of downtown parking will be affected at Benton Square and NAPA, however the remainder of downtown parking will still be useable during the intersection closure.

The Town of Benson will post additional updates and reminders on the roundabout work as necessary. From NCDOT on January 17, 2024:

"Our contractor intends to begin staging equipment and work zone signs on Jan. 30, but the intersection may not close on that date. We've also had to revise the commercial truck detour, due to the Hodges Chapel Road overpass closure for I-95 widening. Revised detour will be NC 27, NC 50, NC 242, I-40 and I-95. NCDOT held an open house in 2018 for this project to address a safety problem with crashes, and to improve traffic flow. These smaller roundabouts are easy to navigate, and commercial trucks are supposed to use the concrete apron in the center when traveling through them."

Each year the Linda Vann Lassiter Women's Society honors a philanthropist in Johnston County. The winner will be honored at an annual celebration.

The honor is awarded annually to an individual who has made a positive impact in our community through giving, and whose philanthropic leadership sets an inspiring example for all with regard to time, talents, and treasures.

Nominees must: reside in Johnston County; demonstrate a track record of charitable giving to one or more nonprofit organizations with a positive impact in the community; encourage, motivate, and inspire others to become philanthropic; volunteer and connect others to the organization through their passion; provide leadership and vision making them well-regarded in the community.
