It's National Pride Month!
Benton County has launched the #PeopleofBentonCountyOregon social media campaign and wants to hear from you. Throughout the year, we will share stories from community members who live, work, or attend school in Benton County.
This month focuses on LGBTQ+ pride month. During the month of June our country celebrates people who identify within the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Queer community. The + signifies other identities including asexual, pansexual, nonbinary, etc.
To participate, community members are welcome to submit stories about their lives to be shared on our social media channels. If selected, the County's Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator will contact you regarding details, photos, and release forms.
Additional features are planned for Hispanic Heritage Month, Veteran’s Day, Native American History Month, and more. We look forward to your submissions!

Avian Flu update
Did you know that the highly pathogenic bird flu has recently been found in wild and domestic birds in the Willamette Valley? This strain of avian flu is highly contagious and can be very deadly within bird populations.
Human infections are rare, but people should take precautions to avoid bird flu virus infection.
- Avoid close contact with ducks and geese this spring and summer.
- Avoid feeding ducks and geese as it causes them to gather and increases risk of transmission.
- Keep chickens and other domestic birds separated from wild birds, especially ducks and geese.
- Wash your hands before and after handling healthy domestic birds, and clean and disinfect cages and equipment regularly.
- Do not handle sick or dead wild birds. Report them directly to the Oregon Department of Wildlife at 866-968-2600 or Wildlife.Health@odfw.oregon.gov.
- Report sick or dead poultry to the Oregon Department of Agriculture at 1-800-347-7028.

Have you heard about the Faster Internet Oregon speed test campaign?
The Faster Internet Oregon speed test campaign is a statewide broadband mapping effort for Oregonians to report Internet speeds or a lack of connection at home.
The Faster Internet Oregon project will provide decision-makers with data that will:
- Identify Oregon homes that lack high-speed Internet
- Clarify which households don't have an Internet connection and why
- Provide cost estimates and assess competitive viability of a variety of technical solutions for areas with identified gaps.
This campaign will help secure infrastructure funding across the state and ensure the funding is
equitably allocated so that everyone has access to fast affordable Internet service.
Please help identify Oregon's areas with the greatest need for high-speed broadband by visiting: www.FasterInternetOregon.org. It takes less than 1 minute!
