NBGC Family and Friends,
This weekend we lost a beautiful young person who was a member of the NBGC Youth Leadership Program. Meghan passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Meghan, who was affected with severe food allergies, suffered an allergic reaction with anaphylactic shock and passed away despite efforts to revive her in the hospital.
Meghan Dunne started with us at NBGC in 2009 as a member and became a Leader in 2015. She was a graduate from Burley Elementary School (class of 2016) and a sophomore at Senn Arts High School.
At the Clubhouse, Meghan could always be found organizing something! She loved working with our PreK and Kindergarten members and recently was promoted to Cheerleading Coach.
Please take a few minutes to read her scholarship essay because her beauty and light shines through her words. All of us will miss her.
Meghan's brothers Jackson (8th grade) and Conor (5th grade), and her parents Dawn and Patrick, are understandably distraught and are unable to communicate directly with friends and families at this time. They very much appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult period.
Visitation with the family will take place on Wednesday, September 13th from 4pm to 9pm at the Cooney Funeral Home, 3918 W. Irving Park Rd. A memorial celebration for Meghan will take place on Thursday, September 14th from 4pm-9pm at Butch McGuire's, 20 W. Division with a Celebration Service at 7:30pm. The family has asked that everyone attending the services for Meghan wear an item that shows how you were connected to Meghan. Therefore, we want to see many NBGC, Burley, Senn, Welles Park and other organizations Meghan and her family were a part of represented. Meghan also loved color - so please wear a bright color in celebration and remembrance.
The NBGC Clubhouse and the afterschool programs at Coonley and Bateman will close at 5pm on Wednesday and Thursday to allow all staff and leaders to attend Meghan's services. Thank you for your understanding.
Donations can be made to the Dunne family to help with funeral and burial costs, in addition to other related needs. Make a donation and/or leave a message to the family using this link: Dunne Family Donations
You can also share your thoughts, photos or love by emailing her family using Meghan's Clubhouse email that she was just given with her recent promotion: Meghan@NBGC.org
