Deaconess Maureen Carr passed away this afternoon surrounded in love.
Maureen began her journey in ministry as a US-2 where she served at Maynard-McDougall Memorial Hospital in Nome, Alaska as a nurse.
She was later consecrated as a deaconess and served at Brewer Hospital in Jacksonville, FL before transferring to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, TX.
Following her retirement, Maureen moved to Asheville, NC where she got an apartment with Doris Manning. In Asheville, NC, Maureen served as a parish nurse at Central UMC, and was a frequent visitor to and volunteer at Brooks-Howell Home.
Maureen was an active member of NADHM where she served as the NADHM president. She also served as the president of the Blue Ridge District of United Methodist Women.
In August of 2020, Maureen and Doris moved to Huntsville, AL to be near Doris's relatives.

Maureen asked that memorial gifts be given to United Methodist Women or to the giver's local United Methodist Church.
There will be a service in Washington State, where Maureen's family resides, at a later date. More information will be shared on services as it becomes available.
