Shabbat shalom!
We are very excited to be celebrating our 50th year of serving the Houston Jewish community, providing an excellent dual curriculum college preparatory education. We hope you enjoy the trip down memory lane weekly with us! Please feel free to email us some of your own pictures and captions--we would love to feature them! Email Tania at

From the desk of our
S.T.E.A.M. Lab

Students in EC4A enjoyed their first visit to the S.T.E.A.M. lab and meeting Morah Shelley, who introduced them to science via an interactive book and activities. Students enjoyed exploring the various centers around the class and are looking forward to their next visit.
Milk + Coffee = Energy

Parents, staff, and faculty were treated to a fantastic coffee bar which included iced coffees, Starbucks brews, and a variety of breakfast treats. Thank you to our wonderful PTO for helping us stay caffeinated. Everyone was so grateful that in the morning rush of the 1st day of school they were still able to enjoy their java while socializing with each other.
Flex Seating

Students in Mrs. Rantz's 2nd grade traditional class were excited to find out there were only 4 desks in the class! Students were introduced to flexible seating, where there is an assortment of seating arrangements including rockers, stability balls, bean bags, and stools.
First Day of School Ritual

Parents of students in Kindergarten were invited to come in to class with their kids to share special brachot (blessings) they wished to bestow upon their children. The class read a book, sang a special welcome song, and were then given kisses (chocolate and real ones) prior to saying goodbye. Click here to watch a snippet from the moving ceremony.
Blasting Boss

Thank you to Board Treasurer and parent Mr. Steven Plumb for coming to blow the shofar (musical horn) every morning during Chodesh Elul (12th month of Jewish year) for our students.
Making a Difference

Students participating with M.A.D. will not only be picking up paper this year, but aluminum and plastic bottles as well, in an effort to contribute towards creating a cleaner and safer environment. M.A.D. is a student run organization that works toward making the world a better place.
Playing to Learn

Middle School students enjoyed their Strategy Board Game elective taught by Mr. Novick. The class meets twice a week.
1st Day for 1st Grade Tour

Mrs. Schneider's first grade class celebrates the first day of school by sporting their new crowns that they designed and decorated. Students were taken on a tour down the Lower School hallway and through the office, familiarizing themselves with the layout of the school.
