Parsha Talk

In many classrooms, discussions are a critical part of the learning process. The class together constructs the knowledge that will be shared throughout the course of the year.  How does this idea tie in to parsha Terumah?
A Heartfelt THANK YOU to our parent volunteers
Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they have the heart
Thank you to all the volunteers who came to help out the community and volunteer at Yom Chesed! In case you missed it earlier this week make sure to check out the impact report below!

And you shall overlay it with pure gold; from inside and from outside you shall overlay it, and you shall make upon it a golden crown all around. And you shall cast four golden rings for it, and you shall place them upon its four corners, two rings on its one side, and two rings on its other side. And you shall make poles of acacia wood and you shall overlay them with gold. And you shall bring the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, to carry the ark with them. The poles of the ark shall be in the rings; they shall not be removed from it. And you shall place into the ark the testimony, which I will give you.

From the desk of our
S.T.E.A.M. Lab

This week in STEAM we finished up our space exploration unit. We learned that astronauts are training here in Houston in order to take-off on a new mission to the moon. Our Lower School students are finishing up their lunar habitats, which were made using NASA's blueprints, and saw from NASA astronauts how the new Artemis missions to the moon will be a training mission to learn how to live outside of earth. Our elementary school students read all about what it takes to be an astronaut through books and hands-on activities. They also used play-dough and sticks to build their own rockets and lunar habitats.

Yom Chesed

On Sunday, February 23, over 225 volunteers came together for a day of community service in memory of Rabbi Joseph Radinsky zt"l, who was known for all his acts of chesed. Students, parents, teachers, and members of the community had a variety of activities to choose from both on and off campus. Click here to read the Jewish Herald Voice recap of the great day.
Collaborative Display

In Ms. Bryan'ts art class, 1st grade is working on a collaborative background to display their clay fish that they created and painted. Be sure to check out their awesome installation when it goes up in the halls!
World Zionist Congress

We are so proud of Yossi Hoffman (Class of 2013) who is on the Orthodox Israel Coalition slate, whose main sponsors are many of our partner organizations: OU, Bnei Akiva, YU, Amit, etc. There is an upcoming election for the World Zionist Congress, the organization founded by Theodore Herzl in 1897. The WZC is responsible for securing over $1 billion for the worldwide Jewish community. To cast your vote please click here.
Virtual Maze

Fifth grade students in Mrs. Schneider's class and eighth grade students in Ms. Goldstein and Mrs. Rosenzweig's classes got together to test the virtual reality mazes that will be available for STEAM day. The fifth grade students loved the mazes and reviewed a lot of math and science concepts needed in order to move on in the maze. The eighth grade students kept on coding and taking suggestions for the mazes.
Sephardic Delicacies

Students in Mrs. Traxler's high school Judaic elective class completed learning all about life for the Jews in Spain, including the Muslim conquest of 711. In order to celebrate the finished unit, the students cooked authentic Sephardi (Spanish) cuisine.
Octopus Studies

Students in Mrs. Schneider's fifth grade learned all about nonfiction reading and writing in Language Arts. After reading, researching, and writing all about the amazing octopus, the class was fortunate to visit the middle school science lab where Ms. Goldstein guided the class through a dissection of squids!

In preparation for Purim, the students in Morah Aviva's ECE4 class have been busy creating silly clowns, having a blast dressing up as the Purim characters, and acting out the Purim story!
