Parsha Minute

What does it mean that Yitzchak dug the same wells that Avraham dug and calls them by the same names? What lesson can we learn about the path our parents pave? Find out in this week's Parsha Minute!

Well...Shabbat Shalom!

Honors Chumash Parsha Presentations
In Honors Chumash, each student gets a turn to prepare a  "Parsha Presentation." Aside from a quick review of the main points and a selected classical commentary, the students choose a creative third piece. Given choice and voice, students can create a " Parsha Playlist, " focus on an art piece, fashion an " Escape the Room, " analyze a Midrash, or read a modern approach to an issue in the Parsha.

This week's Parsha Presentations are from Eliana Ruben (Class of 2019) and Orly Lashak (Class of 2021).
From the desk of our
S.T.E.A.M. Lab

This week in STEAM we began our fall unit. We are practicing our early math skills as we sit down to learn in patterns. We looked into why seasons happen and how the earth's axis and orbit influence the seasons. We learned that more sunlight means warmer days and less sunlight means colder days. We saw how the sun's light touches the earth during different seasons. We discussed why fall is considered a season of change and looked at what kinds of changes we can see happening. Each class then took part in creating a different tool for our STEAM weather station, which can now be found outside of the STEAM classroom.
Dear Zoo

Students in EC15 enjoyed their weekly visit to the library, where they were read Rod Campbell's classic lift-the-flap book Dear Zoo . The class loved lifting the flaps to discover the animals the zoo has.
Cyber Safety Week

This week we focused on cyber safety and how to properly use computers and other connected devices for their intended purpose while still being mindful of the challenges which come with working on the Internet. Students in lower school learned not to give any information out online, proper  netiquette  (online etiquette), and how not to fall into a scammer's trap.
There Is Nothing Like Bamba!

Lower school students had the opportunity to learn all about one of Israel's leading snack foods, produced since 1964: Bamba! Bnot Sherut Gal and Ori taught the students about one of Israel's mega-brands Osem by playing games and enjoying various activities.
Rosh Chodesh Breakfast

Upper school students enjoyed chocolate milk and donuts in honor of Rosh Chodesh Kislev! 10 students were also presented with sefarim (books) in recognition of growth in Tefilah (prayer), seriousness in Torah study, and exemplary middot tovot (good deeds) noted by their Judaic Studies teachers. Congratulations to
Hadassah Elliott, Akiva Garner, Hannah Gross, Rafi Gross, Tomi Weisz-Hubschman, Jonnie Katz, Gabri Kupferman, Daniella Schneider, Nava Teller, and Jordie Yoshor.

Parsha Puppet

Students in Morah Aviva's EC4 class are looking forward to taking home their Yaakov parsha puppets which they created while learning about this week's parsha, Toldot.
