Berkeley Public Library Earns Five Stars!
We are thrilled to share that the Berkeley Public Library
has received a five-star rating, the highest rating awarded to public libraries in the USA, by the Library Journal (LJ). This is great news and a first for our Library. After an annual review of more than 5,600 libraries, the LJ spotlights the “best of the best” public libraries. The only other library system in California to receive a five-star rating in 2020 is San Francisco. The Berkeley Public Library also earned a distinctive second place among the other five-star national rankings in the number of book volumes held in the collection. Read more...
Berkeley values its Library as a core community asset and this investment is reflected in our extensive and rich collections, robust programming, and beautiful spaces. Staff can be proud of all the hard work and dedication that has contributed to this ranking.
We are thrilled to be recognized as a five-star system, and we will build upon this tremendous foundation.
