People be Sayin': Making Promises
Matthew 5:27-37
Rev. Zack L. Dunlap preaching
Jesus transformed what people thought they knew about faith, life, and religion – turning commonly held beliefs upside down. Often, Jesus would instruct his hearers, “You’ve heard that it was said… but I tell you…” This November, in our People Be Sayin’ sermon series at Berkley First, we will explore these teachings of Jesus in Matthew 5. On November 9, Pastor Zack will speak on making promises, before wrapping up this series with a word on resisting evil November 16. Come back November 23 for a special word from Berkley’s own Alex Plum!
Attend worship Sunday at 10:00 a.m., in-person at 2820 12 Mile Road in Berkley, or online. Click a button below to attend worship online.

New Book Study for Advent
Begins Sunday, November 2
6:30-7:30 p.m.
Discover the fascinating connections between ancient birth stories and the Nativity of Jesus in this captivating four-week Advent study. The book study has a DVD accompaniment by author Amy-Jill Levine, who brings her expert knowledge of Scripture and careful consideration of the Christian story to show readers how Scripture's earlier birth narratives of Isaac and Ishmael, Moses, and Samuel reveal how they foreshadow and enrich the timeless Christmas story of Jesus’s birth. It will give new meaning to those classic stories! We meet in the Parlor on Sundays beginning November 2 from 6:30-7:30 pm. Book cost is $15.00.

Tuesday Women's Group 7-Week Study
Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m.
Theology is a conversation about God. One that invites us to experience God in all His fullness rather than just memorizing facts about God. Theology is not some academic subject to only be pursued by professors and seminarians. Theology is the way we connect with our Redeemer. It's how we remember that we're His. And we will never have to be alone.
This seven-week Bible study by Lisa Harper, titled A Jesus-Shaped Life, is your invitation to explore the depths of God's character, God's love for you, and how your relationship with Him transforms you. Ultimately, you will experience how biblically sound theology deepens your relationship with God and each other.
