Request a FARM Record-Keeping Book

The Center for Dairy Excellence has free copies of Animal Care Protocol Record-Keeping Books available for Pennsylvania dairy producers and veterinarians. The intent is to help Pennsylvania dairy farm families comply with National FARM requirements associated with record keeping. One book should cover three program years.

Grow PA Scholarship Grant Program

This program helps in-state students pay for school and builds the workforce in PA for in-demand occupations. The Grow PA Grant Program provides grants (maximum award $5,000 per year) to students who meet the qualifying criteria. A student can receive a Grow PA Grant for a maximum of four academic years.

Farm Safety Resources

Safety protocols should be a critical part of your dairy business to protect yourself and your employees. According to 2019 data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the agricultural sector is the most dangerous in America. Taking a few extra minutes to make sure you have the proper safety precautions in place on your dairy operation, including simple things like safety signs, can save a life.

Herds and Her: Empowering Women in Dairy

Tuesday, May 20 | 8:45 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Penn State Extension presents Herds and Her: Empowering Women in Dairy, a hands-on workshop designed to equip women in dairy with practical skills and knowledge to enhance their farm operations. This immersive, bootcamp-style event offers interactive sessions on key topics such as on-farm culturing to improve milk quality, calculating breakeven costs and conducting serum total protein analysis to assess passive immunity transfer in calves. Participants also will engage in hands-on activities, including farm safety, as well as learning to identify and prevent lameness for improved herd health.

GBDF helps secure PIDA loan for local farm

The Greater Berks Development Fund (GBDF), an affiliate of GRCA, is pleased to announce that it has helped secure a $400,000 Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) loan for Travis and Kayla Shaak to construct a cage-free layer barn at the property.
