During this unique time, rules, recommendations and regulations can change very rapidly and with little notice. The Town of Berlin strives to keep our citizens and businesses as up-to-date as possible, particularly regarding issues which are within municipal control.

As of Monday, November 23, 2020 most town offices are closed to the public and town employees are on modified work schedules. Departments can be reached by phone or email Monday through Friday during normal business hours, however it may be necessary to leave a message for a return call. Please see article below for more information.

DECEMBER HOLIDAYS
CHANGES TO TRASH and RECYCLING COLLECTION SCHEDULES
|
|
Town offices will be closed on the following days:
Christmas: Thursday, December 24, 2020 and Friday, December 25, 2020: Berlin Town offices will be closed on Thursday, December 24th and Friday, December 25th in observance of Christmas. If your normal trash collection day is Thursday or Friday, your trash will be collected on Wednesday, December 23rd along with regular Wednesday trash collection. Recycling collection for Friday, December 25 will be on Monday, December 28 along with regular Monday recycling collection.
New Years: 1/2 day on Thursday, December 31, 2020 and full day Friday, January 1, 2021: Berlin Town offices will close at noon on Thursday, December 31st and be closed on Friday, January 1st in observance of New Years. If your normal trash collection day is Thursday or Friday, your trash will be collected on Wednesday, December 30th along with regular Wednesday trash collection. Recycling collection for Friday, January 1st will be on Monday, January 4th along with regular Monday recycling collection.

Upcoming Mayor and Council and Board and Commission Meetings:
EFFECTIVE 11/23/2020: SPECIAL NOTICE: There will be no public or press attendance permitted at Mayor and Council Meetings until further notice; attendance will be limited to Elected Officials, designated personnel and presenters as appropriate. We will continue to live stream Mayor and Council Meetings during the ongoing Coronavirus/Covid-19 State of Emergency. Your patience and understanding as we work to meet the restrictions on gathering size, while still conducting Town business is truly appreciated.
- Meeting packets will be posted by 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday before the meeting.
- Written questions will be accepted to provide the Mayor and Council the opportunity to review and discuss BY 12:00 PM/NOON on the day of the meeting. Submit to:

- Mail to: Berlin Town Hall, Attn: M&C Comments, 10 Williams St., Berlin, MD 21811. Mail should be posted no later close of business on the Friday before the meeting to help ensure delivery.
- Drop off in one of the two drop boxes at Town Hall – one is at the rear of the building behind the stair tower, and the other is at the corner of Bay and Williams Street on the building.
To access the Meeting via live stream on Facebook, please click on the blue Facebook icon at the top of any page on the Town website, www.berlinmd.gov, or type @berlinmd in the Facebook search bar.
No response will be given to questions and comments submitted via Facebook during a regular meeting.
PUBLIC HEARINGS: If a public hearing is scheduled, questions will also be taken via Facebook during the Public Hearing portion of that meeting. A staff member will monitor the questions for duplicates, language and appropriateness to the Public Hearing topic. Depending on the volume of questions, we may not be able address everyone.
Responses will be given out loud via the live stream; they WILL NOT be responded to via the comments on Facebook.

Yard Waste: Collection dates are scheduled for December 9th and 16th. If your regular trash collection day is Tuesday or Wednesday, your yard waste pick up day will be on Wednesday, December 6th. If your regular trash collection day is Thursday, your yard waste pick up day will be Wednesday, December 16th. Free Carriage Rides: Weekends in Berlin 11:00am-3:00pm until Christmas. One family per ride.
Letters to Santa: Make sure you have the kids drop off their letters to Santa in the direct to the North Pole mailbox located in the vestibule of the Berlin Welcome Center. Include your address so we can send a letter back including a coupon for a free treat at one of our shops on Main Street!
2nd Friday: December 11th Shops open late! Masks required.
