Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the official start of the holiday season at Ice Ice Berlin and the Christmas Tree lighting on Friday. It was wonderful to share that time together! This season is a special one in Berlin, and it’s been made even more special this year by all the ways we’ve engaged the community to be a part of the holiday cheer.
The Town Christmas Tree is decorated in oyster shells painted by local students, and it was a fun project to see from start to finish. Hundreds of oyster shells were donated by Fallen Pine Oyster Company, carefully drilled by me, councilmembers, and volunteers, and then distributed around town—at events like the farmer’s market and truck or treat—and then to all the schools in Berlin, where they were lovingly hand painted. Our amazing Public Works team put on the finishing touches, and our staff came together the week before Thanksgiving to decorate the tree. It was a community effort and one we are all so proud of. Please come see the tree at the Atlantic Hotel and enjoy the holidays in Berlin!
