THE BERLIN BULLETIN - February 2025

A Message From The Mayor's Office

The Month of January was filled with more snowfall and low temperatures than we’ve experienced recently on the Eastern Shore– the Town of Berlin’s official Community Snowball Fight and sledding with our friends and neighbors was a wonderful way to spend a snow day!

I want to acknowledge and thank the Berlin Electric Department for working through several emergency incidents this month in freezing temperatures – so many citizens have reached out to ask me to thank them for their hard work during these emergencies, so I’d also like to thank you for recognizing their efforts and those of our Public Works Team as well.

With help from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, a dream will come true through the Community Parks and Playground grant program. The “big kid” playground at Dr. William Henry Park is currently being completely replaced with a new modernized playset. The new playset will include multiple shade structures, and the coloring will match the mural on the basketball courts. We are looking forward to an unveiling this Spring!

Thanks to the Councilmembers, residents, and contractors who, through a new lease established, will be working together to transform a parcel of property owned by the Esham Family located at the corner of West Street and Washington Street into a municipal parking lot. This new parking facility is part of the Town’s ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility and support the growth of the downtown business district.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for a seamless integration into the flow of parking and walking around town, or anything else at all, please always feel free to contact me at MayorZack@berlinmd.gov.
