THE BERLIN BULLETIN - October 2024

A Message From The Mayor's Office

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Today is Election Day in Berlin! Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. If you live in District 3, you have the only contested race this election cycle, and the polling location is St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, located at 405 Flower Street. If you’re unsure about your district, you can find it here: (https://berlinmd.gov/government/berlin-voting-districts/).

I want to thank all of you for your support as I embark on my second term as Mayor! I am excited about the work we have ahead of us and look forward to working together to accomplish our shared goals. Please consider joining me on Tuesday, October 15th, at 7:00 PM in the Council Chamber at Town Hall for the official swearing-in of the Mayor, District 2 Councilmember, and District 3 Councilmember.

One of the greatest things about living in Berlin is how much we get to enjoy the “shoulder seasons.” Summer may be behind us, but the start of Fall also means several exciting events in town – congratulations to the Chamber of Commerce for another successful Fiddler’s Convention; Oktoberfest will be here before we know it on Saturday, October 19, 11-4, and this year you can even pre-purchase your favorite merch online (https://berlinoktoberfest.boldstores.com/). Halloween brings all sorts of events and experiences for kids of all ages in Berlin, so please make sure to check here (https://www.facebook.com/BerlinMainStreetArtsDistrict/events) and here (https://berlinmainstreet.com/events/) for an October that will keep you connected to your neighbors, enjoying the beautiful weather, and spending quality time with your family and friends.

With thanks to our Economic and Community Development Department and Cross Farms, a new Farmer’s Market has popped up on Tuesdays from 10-2 pm on Flower Street, with access to the Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program, accepting WIC and Fruit Checks, now through October. Don’t forget our regularly scheduled Farmer’s Market has been extended through the month as well, so be sure to support local and stop by Main, Commerce and Pitts Streets on Sunday, 9 am-1 pm.

And, Don’t Forget! Our Community Center Survey conducted by BEACON is still open (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5XW8L7K) – your input can have a major impact on the future of our center, which we are planning to design and construct with your needs and dreams in mind. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey, and you’ll find yourself eligible to win $100 gift cards, free ice cream, and more.

-Mayor Zack
