As for what’s going to happen in the real estate market this year, it really depends on what the Bank of Canada does with interest rates. The general consensus among economists is that rates will go down, mostly likely in the second half of the year, but if inflation continues to rise, that may not happen.

Despite an uptick during the spring and summer, the number of new listings also declined in 2023.
