Did you know the Lord wants to be your Friend? That He desires to be more than your Lord and Savior, but He also wants to be your Best Friend?
Back in the day, there was a TV show whose theme song captured how God wants us to feel about Him:
“People, let me tell you 'bout my best friend
He's a warm-hearted person who'll love me to the end
People let me tell you 'bout my best friend
He's a one-boy, cuddly toy
My up, my down, my pride and joy
People, let me tell you 'bout him, he's so much fun
Whether we're talkin' man to man
Or whether we're talkin' son to son
'Cause he's my best friend
Yeah, he's my best friend… “
The show was called “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father,” and it focused on a widower dad and his young son. Although the lyrics involve a dad and son, God seeks the same kind of closeness with His sons and daughters. He wants all of us to know that our faith in Christ removes all barriers between Him and us. He wants us to come close and experience the joy of knowing Him. He wants our conversation!
And he wants us to know He’s also fun! Yes, our God even cracks jokes (and He loves it when we smile!)!
Our Father wants you to enjoy Him as Best Friend! He also wants you to share your enjoyment of Him with others. Your intimate friendship with God could help provide the light and lifeline that others need to live!
