Honey Badger Report #27

The Honey Badger Takes a Breather (Sort Of)
Alright, patriots, let’s clear something up right out of the gate: despite the highly imaginative rumors swirling around, no, I didn’t go into hiding because of the media’s latest meltdown in print and radio. Sorry to disappoint the conspiracy theorists and the pajama-clad, low-IQ posters. The truth? I’ve been off-grid, deep in the heart of Africa for most of May, recharging in a place where the predators are at least honest about what they are: Lions, Cobras, and even the elusive Honey Badger, you name it. Unlike the RINOs around Colorado, these beasts don’t pretend to be anything they’re not.
Assuming I haven’t been turned into a meal, I should be landing around the time you’re reading this. In the meantime, enjoy this “Best Of” edition of the Honey Badger Report, featuring some of the finest unapologetic commentary from the past two years.
The fight continues, fierce, fearless, and sharper than ever soon.

Let’s kick things off with the very first Honey Badger Report article. Sadly, yet hilariously, not much has changed. Hartsook and Frizell are still rocking dismal Liberty Scores. Honestly, watching Douglas County re-elect these two feels like watching someone hit their hand with a hammer over and over again. You just can’t make this stuff up!

Douglas County holds the distinction of having 2 of the lowest-rated Colorado House of Representatives out of the bottom 4!

3. Michael Lynch (R), Score 53
4. Anthony Hartsook (R), Score 54 - Again, THE ONLY Doug Co Representative that openly voted for a Democrat House Chairperson when a Republican candidate was available to vote for!
There is no spin here, this is just poor representation of Douglas County's conservative principles.
I encourage all constituents in Lisa’s and Anthony’s districts to call and email them. Let them know they need to “shape up” and start representing Doug Co principles by not voting for liberal garbage bills.
Ponder this, “Do you find it strange that 3 of our Doug Co HR held a joint town hall meeting in Castle Rock”? Why did they not each hold a meeting in their own District? Not holding a town hall in your district is disrespectful to us, the voters.

Here’s one of my earliest truth grenades: torching Hartsook for his shameless vote to hand the Colorado House gavel to a Democrat, and the laughable excuses that followed. Sure, the Colorado House GOP finally voted right this session. Did my relentless pounding help? Maybe. But hey, Colorado, we need a revival of the Western Conservative Summit. If there are any truly big spenders out there looking to bankroll that venture, you should give me a call.
June 11, 2023
While attending the recent Western Conservative Summit and our Parker Conservatives meetings this week, I heard from various members and friends that Anthony Hartsook was complaining at a recent meeting about my position concerning AH's vote for a Democrat for Speaker of the House. To refresh everyone's memory, Anothy Hartsook voted for the Democratic Speaker of the House when he should have voted for the Republican running for Speaker of the House. As I understood, the theme of his rationale for voting for the Democrat was that his word is more important than his principles. My thoughts on that.....
Honoring Word Over Principle
The intricate dynamics of human ethics often straddle the line between adhering to one's verbal commitments and staying true to one's principles. At the core of such dynamics is a philosophical conundrum: Is it morally acceptable to honor one's word over one's principles? The contention arises from the belief that one's word, or commitment, is an external manifestation of their inner morality, whereas principles are the embodiment of intrinsic moral and ethical guidelines. The lack of morality in prioritizing commitments over principles represents a conflict within one's ethical compass, potentially leading to harmful consequences.
To start with, it's essential to underscore the inherent value of honoring one's word. Keeping commitments is often viewed as a bedrock of integrity, trustworthiness, and reliability, which are virtues celebrated in personal relationships, professional environments, and social structures. However, an unwavering dedication to uphold one's word, even at the expense of violating one's principles (and those principles of the electorate that voted you into office), can manifest as a lack of moral clarity.
Fundamentally, principles form the moral compass that guides individuals' actions and decisions. These principles are often deeply entrenched, reflecting personal beliefs, ethics, and values. It is these principles that inform our definition of what is right or wrong, good or bad, and that provide us with a guiding light in the face of ethical dilemmas. When one chooses to honor their word over their principles, they're essentially subordinating their core ethical convictions to a temporary verbal commitment. Such a choice can be construed as an indication of weak moral standing, a lack of consistency, and a breach of one's own ethical code.
Moreover, prioritizing words over principles can lead to a slippery slope of moral degradation. By compromising principles for the sake of keeping one's word, individuals may slowly lose sight of their moral bearings. This can result in a dilution of their ethical standards and lead to behaviors that would have otherwise been considered unacceptable under the light of their principles. Over time, the individual might find themselves engaged in a continuous cycle of self-betrayal, leading to a decline in their morals.
Furthermore, placing the word above principle could also compromise societal ethics. Society is a reflection of the collective values and principles of its constituents. When these principles are subordinated to individual commitments, societal ethics will start to fray at the edges. This erosion will disrupt clear thought, leading to the breakdown of trust, mutual respect, and social cohesion, thus causing public harm.
There's no denying that honoring one's word is an important virtue, but not at the expense of one's principles. Principles form the bedrock of an individual's moral identity, offering a moral compass that should guide all decisions, including those related to upholding commitments. Adhering to this approach, individuals can ensure that their actions align with their ethical beliefs, thereby fostering authentic and morally consistent behaviors.
In conclusion, while it is important to honor one's commitments, it should never override one's principles. The act of privileging one's word over one's principles represents a lack of morality and has potentially harmful implications for both the individual and society at large. It is, therefore, incumbent upon us to engage in ethical introspection and calibrate our moral compass, ensuring that our words and actions align seamlessly with our principles, forming a coherent and robust moral identity.
So, what’s next? All I am asking for is for Anthony Hartsook to deliver a heartfelt formal written apology to his constituents for this error on day one of his representing HD 44 voting for a Democrat Speaker of the House. Until the apology is made, I will not be going away concerning this issue. Although the House is not in session, I will not relent. This travesty of a voting failure will follow Anthony Hartsook like hitting a skunk with your car. The stink will not go away. I will make sure of it.
Do the right thing, Representative Hartsook, and write that apology.

Ah yes, true conservatism, small government, individual liberty, free markets. You know, the things that used to be standard issue before the RINOs started eating away at it like Sherman Klump at the all-you-can-eat buffet. This blast from the past reminds us that sometimes the biggest threat isn’t across the aisle; it’s sitting next to you.
August 1, 2023
True conservatism stands on the pillars of limited government, individual freedom, and a robust free-market economy. As steadfast conservatives, we adhere to these principles because they form the backbone of our great American republic, facilitating liberty and prosperity like no other nation in the world. However, these foundations are being eroded from within our own ranks by the compromising stance of so-called "Republicans In Name Only" (RINOs). Their propensity to capitulate to liberal ideologies and special interest groups undermines the very essence of conservative doctrine and betrays the trust of the citizenry who voted them into office based on their professed conservative values.
The danger in RINOs making deals with liberals and special interest groups is multi-fold. Not only do such concessions often translate into larger government and bureaucratic control, but they also pose a significant threat to individual liberties. The nature of these deals invariably involves policies that increase regulatory burdens, balloon our national debt, or compromise the integrity of our constitutional rights. This unholy alliance between RINOs and liberals betrays the very principles that conservatives strive to uphold: economic freedom, personal liberty, and a restrained government.
This isn't just a betrayal of the conservative platform; it's a betrayal of the American people who expect their representatives to safeguard their interests. When these RINOs make deals with the other side, they dilute the distinct voice of conservatism that is critical in maintaining the balance in our democratic processes. If conservatives fail to hold the line, then the nuances, the checks, and balances that are fundamental to our democracy get swept away in a tide of compromise. It's time we hold these RINOs accountable and remind them of their commitment to conservative principles and the American people who entrusted them with their votes. In this ideological battlefield, there is no room for those who waiver in their duty to defend the conservative foundation of our great republic.

Oh my, the classic fence-sitter’s fantasy: thinking you can schmooze with the country club crowd while publicly nitpicking their politics. Spoiler alert: that’s akin to juggling razor-sharp knives. Sooner or later, your Freddy Krueger politics catches up, and trust me, it’s not a dream you wake up from.
September 1, 2025
We're knee-deep in a world where the fences are too high and the trenches too deep. Guilt by association is no longer a theoretical concept but an active reality in this ever-polarizing landscape in Parker, Douglas County, Colorado, and Federal politics. It's not a pleasing reality, but it's reality nonetheless, a distorted mirror held up to the nature of the human psyche.
Hovering in the middle ground is a dance with sure political death. You can find yourself cozying up to a group, yet feel a creeping disagreement with some of their political positions? You're standing on a political fault line. Think you can straddle that line, pontificating your disagreements while still basking in the warmth of the group's approval? Well, let me tell you, that's a political mirage. Freddy Krueger is right around the corner, waiting.
The danger of this ideological tightrope is not just alienating your supporters, but losing the trust of the voters who want to see a clear path, not a politician dancing around potholes. You might think you're dodging bullets, but really, you're loading the gun for your political execution by the opposition.
As someone who walks the talk of grassroots conservatism and an unapologetic advocate for the Trump 2024 'America First' vision, I understand what it means to stand firm amid the downpour of judgment. I am no stranger to the heat of scrutiny. But my conviction is my shield. It’s firm, steadfast, and doesn't sway with the political wind.
So, what's the game plan? It's simple, pick a side, and plant your feet firmly. Open dialogues, express your individuality, acknowledge differences, all good. But when the dust settles, there should be no question about where you stand. In this high-stakes game of political poker, a lukewarm stance just shows you're bluffing.
Political survival isn't a walk in the park; it can be a nightmare out there. You've got to pick a side and defend it with your life. Fence-sitters, beware. The clock is ticking, the fences are crumbling. Your voters aren’t just casting a ballot, they're entrusting you with their future. Stand behind a vision, unflinchingly, uncompromisingly, especially on issues of the day, for most voters in Douglas County like those third rail issues, drag queen shows for children, taxes, water rights, getting on the primary ballot via Caucus versus petitioning. Remember, a politician divided cannot stand, and Freddy is waiting for those who falter.

In this nation, where the rule of law is not merely a concept but the bedrock of our civilization, there exists a glaring oversight in our legal system that demands address. The question of when life begins is not a mere academic exercise—it is a foundational inquiry that requires a decisive resolution. I propose a straightforward appeal to the guardians of our Constitution, the Supreme Court, to end the ambiguity and set forth a clear definition of when life, in the eyes of the law, begins.
Our Constitution, a masterwork of governance, implicitly respects the sanctity of life, but our courts have shied away from the task of defining the precise moment that life warrants legal protection. This omission is not trivial, it is a profound deficiency that leaves essential rights hanging in the balance, subject to the fragmented patchwork of state statutes rather than grounded in constitutional decree.
In a time when science allows us to glimpse the earliest sparks of life, when embryos can be frozen and life's inception mechanically paused, we find ourselves at a crossroads. The law must evolve to reflect these advancements. It is not a matter of ideology but one of legal necessity. Without a clear standard, we risk a future where the law no longer aligns with the realities of life and technology.
The question also strikes at the heart of our inheritance laws. As it stands, an unborn baby's claim to legacy can be muddled by the absence of a constitutional clarification on their legal status. This is not a question of potential life but of potential justice, and the law must speak with a clear voice on the matter.
In criminal law, the absence of a definitive standard creates a disparity that undermines the very concept of equal protection under the law. The court must establish a consistent legal definition of when life begins to ensure that justice is not a variable but a constant.
Beyond these, the burgeoning frontiers of embryonic research demand a constitutional framework that firmly establishes the legal status of embryos. Our laws must provide a bulwark against the ethical recklessness that can accompany scientific exploration, ensuring that progress never tramples on the intrinsic value of life.
It is, therefore, incumbent upon the Supreme Court to step forward and fulfill its role as the interpreter of our Constitution. The court must define the threshold of life, not wade into the waters of religious or moral debate, but to provide a legal standard that reflects the advancements in our understanding of life itself.
This is not an intrusion into the realm of personal belief but an affirmation of the court's duty to provide clarity and direction in matters of law. It is a call for the court to recognize the urgency of this question and to deliver a ruling that aligns our legal system with the undeniable realities of life's beginnings. Only then can the law truly offer everyone equal protection. Always remember if they found a single (one) cell living on Mars, there would be a claim, "We found life on Mars". The same standard should apply here on earth.

Yes, even more truth: Lisa Frizell, proud owner of a “Conservative” badge and a voting record that suggests otherwise. Her yes vote on HB23-1112? It was a masterclass in betrayal. Now she’s moved up to a Senate seat. Because if there’s one thing we’ve learned, failure at one job clearly qualifies you for a promotion! FUMU, the government way of life.
January 1, 2024
As we look back on the session from this past year, there is another notable besides Anthony Hartsook voting for the Democratic Chair, that is….House Bill 23-1112, crafted to expand income tax credits in Colorado, is a perfect storm of fiscal irresponsibility and governmental overreach, masquerading as a charitable endeavor. This legislation, under the pretense of aiding low-and middle-income families, is actually a thinly veiled attempt at wealth redistribution, blatantly pilfering the pockets of hardworking taxpayers. It's an affront to every principle of sound conservative fiscal policy and a slap in the face to Douglas County taxpayers.
The most egregious aspect of this bill is its blatant disregard for the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR). TABOR isn’t just a piece of legislation, it’s a constitutional sentinel guarding against governmental excess. HB23-1112 sidesteps this critical safeguard, effectively hijacking rightfully owed funds to taxpayers. This isn’t just a breach of trust, it's a full-blown assault on fiscal responsibility, a testament to governmental greed, and a clear indicator of misplaced priorities.
Adding insult to injury is the potential for illegal immigrants to benefit from this bill. It's an outrageous proposition that those who circumvent legal immigration processes could gain from a policy funded by law-abiding Colorado citizens. This isn't a minor policy misstep, it's a colossal blunder, undermining the efforts of legal contributors and blatantly disrespecting the rule of law.
Moreover, the fiscal ramifications of HB23-1112 are staggering. It's not just a matter of reallocating funds, it's about drilling holes in Colorado’s fiscal ship. An alternative, more sensible approach would have been a universal income tax cut, allowing hard-earned money to stay in the hands of those who earned it, rather than being funneled into the government’s coffers for harebrained schemes.
In addition, the financial burden that Colorado bears in supporting the homeless and illegal immigrants is already immense. Denver alone has spent roughly $33 million in the past year supporting the homeless and the influx of migrants, many of whom are illegal. This is money that could have been used for improving infrastructure, education, or providing tax relief to citizens. Instead, it's being drained in a misguided attempt to address issues exacerbated by lax policies and fiscal imprudence.
The stance of the Colorado Representative from Douglas County, HD 45, Lisa Frizell, who voted in favor of HB23-1112, is nothing short of a betrayal of conservative values. This decision starkly contradicts the principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and the rule of law. It's not just a political misstep, it's a dereliction of duty to the voters of Douglas County, a clear sign that this representative may have lost touch with the foundational values they were elected to uphold. Remember that Lisa Frizell now wants to run for a state Senate position being vacated by Jim Smallwood.
It is also good to note she has the lowest Liberty Score of our 3 House Republican Representatives for the 2023 session:
- Lisa Frizell (R) – 59.6 (Vote for HB23 – 1112, For)
- Bob Marshall (D) - 26 (Vote for HB23-1112, For)
- Anthony Hartsook (R) – 61.5 (Vote for HB23-1112, Against)
- Brandi Bradley (R) – 68.8 (Vote for HB23-1112, Against)
See the entire report here: https://libertyscorecardco.us/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2023-Liberty-Scorecard-pdf.pdf
HB23-1112 was not just a bad bill, it's a catastrophic policy decision that threatens the fiscal stability of Colorado. It stands in direct opposition to conservative principles of fairness, fiscal responsibility, and respect for the law. It should have been opposed vehemently by ALL the Douglas County elected officials, serving as a rallying cry for Conservatives who believe in responsible governance and the sanctity of taxpayer rights.
The rejection of this bill was not just necessary, it was imperative for the preservation of Colorado’s fiscal health and the respect of its law-abiding citizens. Well, now this is all water under the bridge as it was passed and signed by Pollsmoker. However, Lisa Frizell’s run for the State Senate is not. Is she representing Douglas County Conservatives or her own interests?

Well, well, it’s time to talk about Colorado’s real power players: the deep-pocketed elites pulling strings behind the scenes while pretending it’s all grassroots. LOL. When you wonder why true grassroot conservatives candidates keep getting screwed, follow the money and watch the shadowy influence at work. Spoiler: it’s everywhere, and it’s no accident.
Febuary 1, 2024
Patriots of Colorado, the time has come to address the faux-elephant in the room, or should I say, the tycoon in the Rockies and his minions? It's no secret anymore, thank you Editorial Board of Glendale, Cherry Creek Chronicle. Phil Anschutz, with his sprawling empire, has a bone to pick with the Colorado GOP and its Chair, Dave Williams, and the true Grassroots Conservatives. His influence stretches far and wide, casting a shadow over outlets like The Gazette (Colorado Springs), Denver Gazette, Independence Institute, Complete Colorado, Advance Colorado, The Lobby, Leadership Program of the Rockies, Camp Fire Colorado, Rocky Mountain Voice (RMV), Caucus Room, and Colorado Peak Politics, just to name a few (list taken from the article noted below). This isn't gossip, it's a fact that's as glaring as the Colorado sun.
The moment I dared to raise my voice against this, I was branded a madman, accused of having lost my grip on sanity. "Oh really?" I say, take a read at the recent editorial piece declaring, “Phil Anschutz Does Not Like The Colorado GOP And Its Chair Dave Williams.” Click Here
It's no coincidence that RMV is among the laundry list of platforms, alongside Advance Colorado. A snippet from Advance Colorado's homepage lays bare their intent, “It’s time that the fringe be sidelined….” They label us fringe, not for being outliers, but for our steadfastness to core conservative values and principles. Do you think for a second this is not also the way of RMV? To prove my point, just check out the lead article hidden in ” Commentary” on RMV. To give herself cover, Heidi Ganahl shrewdly placed it in commentary, that article is a direct assault on the true grassroots conservative movement in Colorado.
But let's focus on the new conservative grassroots terminator in our midst, Rocky Mountain Voice (RMV), which she lost. Led by none other than Heidi Ganahl, the loser of the 2022 Colorado Governor race, losing by more than 300,000 votes. To refresh your memory of this blowout, Polsmoker received 1,085,082 votes to Heidi’s 759, 989. Rough voter registration number in 2022, Rep 955,000; Dem 1,0700,000, UAF 1,650,000, with all other parties about 3,700,000 voters. That 759,989 votes Heidi received represent 20.54% of available voters. You would have thought Heidi was our conservative savior during the 2022 election campaign season, look at the numbers. This is not a communication problem Heidi would have you believe it is a viability issue, Heidi Ganahl is equal to New Coke. No amount of marketing could sell that can of crap. Heidi’s RMV masquerades as a beacon of conservative unity. The voters of Colorado rather have Polsmoker than you at the helm of Colorado, that is a statement in itself concerning unity. With that type of overall rejection, I don't think she could win a Municipal Dog Catcher race (if you don't get this, look her up, then you will get this).
Heidi and her RMV are part of Anschutz's intricate network, a web designed to entangle and ensnare true grassroots conservative voices under the pretense of “bringing us together.’ But the only thing they’re bringing us to is a watering hole of compromise and political submission.
Here’s the deal, Heidi benefactors do not like the new Colorado GOP's backbone. They do not like our Chair, Dave Williams, because he represents what they cannot control, unapologetic conservatism. We are the thorns in the side of the Republican Establishment and the Uni-Party agenda, which, if left unchecked, will prune our principles down to stump.
When RMV cries out for sidelining the 'fringe', they're not just targeting outliers, they're aiming at the heart of us, the true grassroots conservatives. They label us as such because we stand steadfast by our pocket Constitution and refuse to be swayed by calls to join them, the call of centrism.
The charade of secret meetings and hushed whispers has been unmasked. RMV and its allies want our lists, our contacts, our very lifelines to you, the grassroots conservative patriots. It's not about unity, it's about inventory for their agenda. Well, here's a message, let me be very loud and clear, our lists, our members, our movement, they're not up for sale or absorption in your soon-to-be failing startup.
Anschutz and Heidi have one thing in common, they both underestimate the resolve of Colorado's grassroots conservatives. We've fought harder battles and stood against fiercer winds. We won't be silenced by the Rocky Mountain Voice, nor will we be lulled into complacency by Heidi's hollow promises.
We, the conservative grassroots, will set the tone for what true unity looks like, a unity based on shared principles, not shared enemies. We reject RMV's divisive tactics, and we reject the notion that we must fall in line behind a banner that doesn't respect nor represent us.
To the RMV, consider this your notice, your attempts to dilute the grassroots conservative voice in Colorado via the Establishment, RINO’s, and the Uni-Party will not go unanswered. We are more than a voice, we are a force, united not by your terms, but by our dedication to liberty, our commitment to constitutional rights, and our unwavering support for leaders like Dave Williams and Donald Trump, who embody these truths.
Colorado grassroots conservatives, stay steadfast, we will not be silenced!
Well, this is just my” opinion”, you know, commentary….
So, Heidi, I still have your text stating that I could submit an opinion piece for consideration to RVM for publication, well here it is. Doesn’t feel good to be attacked, does it? Get used to it, just ask my friend Anthony Hartsook. I don’t go away, and I am relentless.
Update: Heidi never published my article.

Let’s cut the nonsense: it’s time to hold candidates accountable. Enough with the bait-and-switch politics and sugarcoated spin to keep your fan club in tow. Voters are sick of big promises and zero follow-through. We need leaders who act, not just talk, because empty “plans” won’t save Colorado. Douglas County and Colorado dodged a bullet with this one.
May 1, 2024
Ah, it’s that time of year, no, not Christmas, but very similar, when politicians promise the moon or that they “PLAN” to attend the State Assembly Process, only to deliver a cow pie balloon, floating away with the hot air that blew it up. Do they think we're stupid? Or do they believe we are so dazzled by their teeth whitened to near-solar brilliance that we'll forget their words are as empty as Joe Biden's head?
Let’s talk about the grand old tradition of political flip-flopping, shall we? Oh yes, our candidates love to talk a big game. They stand on stages decked out in American flags, stomping their feet like they're auditioning for a part in Riverdance, telling us how they’re "for the people, I am grassroots!" And yet, somehow, the only “PLAN” that ever seems to come to fruition involves their list of excuses for why their “PLANS” changed.
And what about those ever-evolving “PLANS”? One day, it's all about Special Vacancy Election; the next day (well, 8 days later), it's all about "No, it’s not fair; I’m not participating." You are left with the feeling they just reached into your wallet with the finesse of a pickpocket on the 16th Street Mall. Oh, and let’s not forget the State Assembly promise. If I had a dollar for every time that was promised was made on a stage, I would almost have enough for a #1 at Mickey D’s!
I can’t speak for you, but I'm sick of politicians treating their platforms like a game of Twister, bending over backward to appease the people who count, the voters. Meanwhile, we're over here playing political Jenga, trying to pull out a log of truth without the whole tower crashing down.
So, let me say this: It's time we held these candidates accountable, yes, you, Deborah Flora. No more bait and switch. You face the facts with political spin to keep your base of “Forever Flora” peeps in place. Our patience is wearing thinner than the toilet paper in a Motel 6. Remember, folks, actions speak louder than words. Let's start electing doers, not talkers, people who stick to their plans like gum on a hot sidewalk. In the end, we don't need more political “PLANS” that change with the wind, we need commitments that are as steadfast as the Rockies.

Let's expose some Leftist Progressives, UniParty, Establishment Republicans, RINOs, and those new Trans-Republicans, and support our fellow patriots, and maybe, just maybe, save the republic one click at a time.
"Everybody has an opportunity in America. I don’t care if guys whine and complain about this or that. You know, no country affords its inhabitants the opportunities
that the U.S.A. gives to its people.”
Bobby Knight

So, a question you might have is, “Why Honey Badger”?
Honey Badgers have been described in the Guinness Book of Records as the "most fearless animal in the world" and can even fight off much larger predators like lions and hyenas if challenged. We know the political landscape is filled with hyenas, thus, we need the Honey Badger.
"You may think that I'm a confrontational jerk, and you may be right. But the confrontational jerk community serves an important purpose. No cultural battle can be won or has ever been won anywhere in the world without us.
You need us, whether you like it or not."
Matt Walsh

The Quest is on!
RINO Watch Colorado
Mission Statement
RINO Watch Colorado is the voice of grassroots Republicans, and the one-stop resource for news, editorials, websites and podcasts that cut through the Establishment and liberal spin.
We expose RINOs and support grassroots Patriots. We are a collective of grassroots activists.
A RINO is a Republican In Name Only. Someone who claims to be Republican but whose actions show they have abandoned GOP principles. RINOs often work in tandem with Democrats to destroy grassroots Republicans.
