Aloha Marci!
Beautiful beaches, elegant resorts, sunshine-drenched days — Maui is as good as it gets for
destination weddings. Whether you’re tying the knot soon, know someone who is, or you’re just dreaming about your future wedding, we’ve put together a list of the best spots for Maui
weddings.
Beaches
Palauea
Also known as White Rock, Palauea is one of South Maui’s dreamiest wedding beaches. Hidden behind a tangle of kiawe trees, Palauea feels wild and rural – yet it’s just a stone’s throw from Wailea resorts, making it a convenient ceremony option. Palauea is a relatively small beach, so you might be sharing the sand with another couple tying the knot — especially if you schedule your ceremony at sunset.
If you plan your ceremony at Palauea, consider staying just steps away at Polo Beach Club.
Po'olenalena
Like Palauea, Po’olenalena’s coastline is mostly undeveloped, hidden from the road behind masses of kiawe trees. Po’olenalena is also a popular wedding beach in South Maui. It’s well-
loved for its secluded feel, convenient location, and out-of-this-world sunset views. Po’olenalena is a bigger beach than Palauea, so there’s less chance you’ll be bumping elbows with another wedding ceremony.
Stay at the luxurious Makena Surf condos, directly overlooking Po’olenalena.
Makena Secret Beach
Not so much of a secret anymore, Makena Secret Beach is no more than a patch of sand
tucked in a lava rock cove. But don’t let its size fool you; Secret Beach is the definition of
picturesque — and it has been the subject of countless Maui postcards. Secret Beach is
incredibly popular for weddings. Due to the beach’s small size, intimate ceremonies are best
here. Consider a morning or afternoon ceremony if you don’t want to share the beach come
sunset.
Consider a stay down the road at the oceanfront Wailea Elua Village.
Venues
Sugar Beach Events
Sugar Beach Events is one of the most sought-after wedding venues on Maui. Set on the
beachfront in North Kihei, Sugar Beach Events features a stunning grand ballroom and luxury bridal suite. Say “I do” steps from the sea on the oceanfront lawn amid swaying palms. This venue features a list of vendors for streamlined planning and offers catering in partnership with award-winning chefs. Perfect for intimate weddings and large gatherings alike.
Stay steps away at Sugar Beach Resort.
Olowalu Plantation House
The gold standard of wedding venues on Maui, the Olowalu Plantation House is a historic estate overlooking the ocean in West Maui. Briefly featured in the opening scenes of White Lotus Season 1, this venue features a large oceanfront lawn dotted with palms, Cook pines, and monkeypod trees. After the ceremony, stroll to the Olowalu Landing to take advantage of the jaw-dropping West Maui Mountain backdrop. This venue is in high demand and requires a Maui-based wedding planner.
Just a 20-minute drive away is Kealia Resort in North Kihei.
White Orchid Beach House
For a luxury coastal wedding, tie the knot at White Orchid Beach House, a coastal retreat
nestled on a secluded cove in Makena. Perfect for intimate weddings of up to 40 guests, this
historic beachfront venue exudes the nostalgic charm of Old Hawaii. Soak in stellar ocean
views, stunning sunsets, and a full-furnished beach house for your special day.
Stay a few minutes down the road in Wailea at Wailea Ekahi Village.
No matter where you choose to say “I do” on Maui, the island’s stunning scenery and aloha spirit make it an unforgettable place to start your forever.
