Dear Bet Torah Family,
It is with bittersweet emotion that I inform you that Cantor Randy Herman has been offered the cantorial position at Chizuk Amuno Congregation & Schools outside Baltimore, MD. We understand that, subject to the successful negotiation of a contract, Cantor Herman will accept that offer; however, as I previously shared with you, he will remain our cantor through June 30, 2020.
Accordingly, our Interim Cantor Search Committee, headed by Mindy Hermann Zaidins and Susan Katz Truwit, has prepared and posted a job description with the Cantor’s Assembly and on our own Bet Torah website. We hope to fill the interim cantorial position here at Bet Torah as early as July 1, 2020. We know that often our best candidates come from personal recommendations from our members.

if you know someone who could serve as our interim cantor and want to see a brief job description that you may pass along to any potential candidates.
We are currently assembling a separate task force that will work to determine our long-term needs and expectations in the cantorial space. This task force will, in turn, inform the Board and the permanent cantorial search committee we expect to convene over the coming summer or fall.
Please join me in supporting Cantor Herman, supporting our amazing Bet Torah staff led by Rabbi Brusso and supporting the members of our community who will be working to ensure our best future. We will continue to keep you informed as the process moves forward.
As always, with appreciation and respect,
