Dear Beth El Community,
Given the CDC’s recent guidelines recommending masking indoors, combined with the uptick in numbers in our area due to the Delta variant, masks are now required of all attendees vaccinated and unvaccinated, upon entering the building at Beth El The Beaches Synagogue, as of August 6th, 2021.
The Delta variant is a more contagious virus that is 225% more infectious, replicating a lot faster, and doing a lot more damage including to the younger population.
All of our COVID related decisions and policies have been recommended by our Health and Safety committee, comprised of medical experts, and approved by the Board Of Trustees. Our overarching priority is to protect the health and well-being of our congregants and the broader community. It is our hope and prayer that we can all remain healthy and well. We constantly monitor health statistics and scientific development and will update these measures as conditions change.
The Beth El Health and Safety Committee will make recommendations as to the safest way to hold Shabbat and High Holiday services. The safety of all our congregants and staff is our top priority.
Thank you for your assistance,
The Beth El Board of Trustees and
The Health and Safety Committee

You know…
I just got finished with new flooring and repainting the house (really, actually called “deferred maintenance” but otherwise known as ‘way past the time when this should have been done’ maintenance). Six weeks of chaos, a constant moving of furniture from one room to the next and then moving back again, day after day, after day. Of course being the neat freak that I am, I found this period of time needed just a glass of red wine or a frozen Mai Tai to facilitate dealing with this melee! Besides the discarding of “lotsa’ stuff”, I realized I have zero talent for flower arranging. Then I remembered the flower arrangement in the sanctuary on either side of the Bima. Sisterhood, Carol Freedman, and Helen Siegal all had their talented hands in the mix. Ron Van, Buzzy Klausner, and Danny Cohen on the roof….not that I rearranged the asbestos shingles! Tammy Shumer and Karen Freedman adorning the entrance with a planter filled with some kind of palm plant. Lori Shapiro, Jean, Ryan, and Keely Rissman, Rachel Marcus-Hendry Mitchell, Laurie Berger and Donne’ Ordile sprucing up the trailer. Thanks to all for doing what you do! (But don’t ask me to arrange any flowers….absolutely a disaster!).
