Musical Midrash via ZOOM
Tuesday, October 13th at 7 PM

We are excited to offer this unique interactive musical program designed to lift our spirits, have fun and share together. Please join us as we welcome our guest, Cantor Rubin.

Israeli born Cantor Ronit Rubin is a member of the Cantor’s Assembly of Conservative Judaism and The Woman Cantors Network. Her mezzo-soprano range, along with her warm and engaging personality, generates an inviting atmosphere from both pulpit and stage. Cantor Rubin has graced the bimah of multiple congregations in South Florida, including Temple Samu-el/Or Olam and Congregation Bet Shira, and has sung, in concert with other area cantors.

We can all use some good news. Please submit anything you would like to share with your Beth El family by Thursday at 5 PM to elissa@bethelbeaches.org.

  • Share your joys, accomplishments, bragging rights of someone you love, children, grandchildren or anything else that is good and you want to shout it from the rooftop. Your Beth El family wants to share in your happiness.

I can't wait to hear from you and all the good news!

Tzedakah Project
Replenish the Pantries Food Drive

During these challenging times we know that food insecurity is, unfortunately, a huge concern in many families. There are families who are utilizing food banks for the first time. Local food pantries are experiencing exceptionally high demand and facing critical shortages. This is due, in part, to the rise in unemployment and homelessness in our community linked to Covid19. The food pantries do a fantastic job of providing for those in need but they need help keeping their pantries stocked.

Beth El congregants are invited to join the Religious School for the Tzedakah Project. We are looking forward to the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of members of our community.
Details and suggestions:
  • Food will be collected at Beth El December 2-3. Members of the education committee will transport to the collection site. The food is then distributed to over 20 local food pantries.
  • What is needed (but not limited to):

NO fresh items, anything packaged in glass or anything with an expired date
 Canned goods

Episode 1
When I was...
On my 16th birthday, my date and I went to a nightclub in West Memphis, Arkansas. Don’t get me wrong. I was not a “wild child”, just very adventurous. When the bouncer carried me to my date’s car, it was barely past 11:00 p.m., and I didn’t want to break curfew. Of course, I didn’t have a curfew, but I knew my grandmother (who lived with us) would start pacing the floor, waiting for my arrival. My date brought me home, left post haste, and my father carried me into the house into my bedroom. The next morning (slithering down the hallway from my bedroom to the den), my parents realized that their “not so "wild child was slithering down the hallway not because she really liked the carpet, but because there might be a problem. The next week was spent in traction in the hospital.

Torn ligaments and cartilage, casts, and knee braces for the next 11 weeks made walking the stairs in high school somewhat difficult. Long story short....DO NOT DO “THE TWIST” ON YOUR FIRST DATE!
