Austin Bodkin Bar Mitzvah
Hello! My name is Austin Bodkin. I will become a Bar Mitzvah on February 8th, 2025. My
parents, David and Amy, and my sister, Jessica, are very much looking forward to it. I'm very
thankful for them helping me along this path. I am a 9th-grade homeschool student, so my mom is always my teacher (for better or worse… but mostly better). I enjoy music the most in school. I love jazz and opera, but I also enjoy all other musical genres. I enjoy music so much that I play in a band and take lessons in voice, drums, piano, and clarinet. I enjoy camping (when the temperature isn't blazing) and playing Dungeons and Dragons (my sister and I are nerds). I am also an avid fan of retro video games and Star Trek. My Tzedakah Project is creating a scholarship fund at Minds On Music so that families who can't afford the gift of music can participate in a music camp or class. If you would like to assist me in my project, you can click this link, or use the QR code below. Becoming Bar Mitzvah will allow me to play a more active role in Temple life. For example, I will coordinate my class at School for Jewish Living in making a meal for families at Ronald McDonald House. I am also hoping to begin learning to play some of the songs we sing at School for Jewish Living on the piano so that I may accompany us. But becoming a Bar Mitzvah means more than that. It means making a formal commitment to Judaism and living a Jewish life.

Alex Greenhut Bar Mitzvah
Hi, my name is Alex Greenhut and my Bar Mitzvah is taking place on the 15th of February. I am currently a freshman at Gulf Breeze High School. My favorite subject is English. In my free time I like fishing, tennis, and playing games online with friends. My Tzedakah Project is collecting donations of dog and cat food for Pensacola Humane Society. I love animals. I have a special soft spot in my heart for animals. I have 3 dogs and 3 cats at home (I could make 3 more with the fur they emit). I have enjoyed studying for my Bar Mitzvah. It’s been a good process and over these past few years I felt that I've learned so much about the values of Judaism and I’ve thought a lot about the role being Jewish plays in my life.

A Message from the Social Justice Team
I recently had the privilege of volunteering at Manna Food Bank alongside a wonderful group of Temple Beth El friends, including Bill Zimmern, Rabbi Joel and Andrea Fleekop, Sharon Marcus, Janet Schilling, Chuck Lisner, Robin Mertins, and Steve Rome. We worked together to help sort and organize donations after their successful "Fill the Mayflower" food drive.
Manna Food Bank relies heavily on volunteers to make their mission possible, and it's truly impressive to see their efficient process in action. Our group alone contributed a collective 33 hours of volunteer time, valued at $1,105.17, and helped produce 663 healthy meals. This is a remarkable impact, and I'm grateful to everyone who participated.
Volunteering at Manna Food Bank is not only rewarding, but also a fun and social experience. We'll be returning in May to help with their "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive, in conjunction with the US Postal Service. I invite you to join us and help make an even bigger impact. Together, we can make a real difference in our community. Thank you again to our wonderful volunteers, and I look forward to seeing you at our next event!
Shalom,
Deborah Buchalter

We are continuing to host Dessert Onegs following Shabbat Services and are in urgent need of sponsors. Sponsoring an Oneg is a wonderful opportunity to honor someone's memory on their yahrzeit, celebrate an anniversary or birthday, thank someone special, or observe a special occasion that has meaning to you.
No planning experience is required!
To sign up/inquire about available dates, contact Sydney McAbee.
