KARISSA HOFFMAN JOINS ADVANCEMENT TEAM
Bethany College has hired Karissa Hoffman as the Director of Development specifically focusing on planned giving and the endowed scholarship program. Hoffman has previously worked as the Associate Director of Development for the College of Engineering at Wichita State University and as the Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations at Central Christian College of Kansas.

“We are excited to have Karissa join Bethany’s Advancement team. She brings experience to our team from her previous advancement positions,” said Clair Oleen, Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to help the alumni, friends, and donors of Bethany advance our wonderful college and community that we love,” said Hoffman.
The Teacher Education Program at Bethany College is hosting an accreditation visit by the Kansas State Department of Education on November 1-3, 2020. This accreditation visit occurs every 7 years. Interested parties are invited to submit third-party comments to the Chair of the Education Department. These comments should address substantive matters related to the quality of the teacher education program and specify the party's relationship (i.e., graduate, present or former faculty member, or an employer of graduates).

THALIA (FLUNDER) CHERRY '87
The Cherry Company, owned by Thalia Cherry, was named one of this year's top 10 small businesses by the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. Thalia has also started a program called Entrepreneurship KC to help prepare minority high school students who are interested in starting their own business. Congratulations, Thalia!

Chris Bauer has been promoted to captain in the Kansas Highway Patrol and will now oversee Troop J, the KHP Training Academy.

BETHANY COLLEGE AND THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. MARY POSTPONE FIRST FOOTBALL GAME
In a joint statement, Bethany College and The University of Saint Mary announced the postponement of the football game scheduled for Saturday, September 12, in Leavenworth, Kansas. 

Bethany College and The University of Saint Mary continue to consider the safety of students, faculty, and staff a primary concern. Keeping the spread of COVID in check will best position each institution to keep each campus and respective community safe, as well as enable students to remain attending classes on campus and in-person.

The Bethany College Swedes football team will now kick off their season at home on Saturday, September 19, at 7:00 p.m. against Kansas Wesleyan University. Both President Mauch from Bethany and President Thompson from KWU have confirmed their intentions to play September 19.
