Missy's Message

Greetings,
Having over three years under our belt, we’ve spent the last few months re-assessing our model, identifying what’s working well and what’s not. We never want to get stuck in the mentality of “this is how we do it at BH”. We want to change and adapt to the needs of the young women we serve, while never faltering from our commitment to God being the foundation of this ministry. I want to share a couple of highlights of the revisions we are implementing and plan to share more at the Spring Gala.

We’re doing a major remodel to our education program.  Our plan is for all residents to complete a certificate program online with the help of our newly formed Education Team (consisting of Learning Assistants and Babysitters). Our Education Room is set up and ready to go with four student computer stations. These certificate programs will be more attainable for our moms than the associate degree programs. They can be started at any time which alleviates the lengthy hold time that came with coordinating semester start dates with move in dates with due dates.

We’ve also incorporated more of a reward program. With the help of the moms and volunteers, we’ve developed a level system that reinforces hard work and good choices. This motivation has been very effective.

There are some other great things we are working on but I’ll leave that for the Spring Gala. Please join us on Saturday, March 28 for a night of celebrating the young moms and babies we’ve been blessed to have over the past year as well as our amazing volunteer team.

May God richly bless you,
Missy

ABLE TO HELP WITH MEAL PREP?
We have two mamas expecting to give birth over the next couple of weeks. As the moms typically prepare their meals for the house on a rotating basis, having two mothers recovering leaves the burden on mothers already overwhelmed with work and school. In times like these, we ask trained volunteers to bring cooked meals, drop off frozen meals, come to BH to cook what we have, etc. Any assistance in this area will be especially appreciated! Please Email Amy Vickery at  [email protected] or text (339)309-9495 if you can help!

BECOME A BETHESDA HOUSE MONTHLY DONOR
We are especially grateful to a core group of supporters, our Monthly Donors, who make recurring donations that we can rely on month-to-month to help us pay our home’s living expenses. We have recently streamlined the donation process on our website and invite you to become a Monthly Donor and become part of the foundation of Bethesda House. We are 100% volunteer-run which maximizes the impact of each dollar your give. And, because Bethesda House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, your donation is tax-deductible.
TRIBUTE DONATIONS MADE TO BETHESDA HOUSE
We are grateful that you would honor the special people in your life with a donation to Bethesda House.

Most recently, donations have been made as following:
  • In Honor of the Bethesda House mothers and children, in Loving Memory of Roland Potter.
  • In Honor of the 50th Wedding Anniversary of Jim and Doris Bean

VOLUNTEER AT BETHESDA HOUSE
There are numerous areas where you can use your God-given talents to support Bethesda House where opportunities are flexible depending on your availability. We require that you attend one of our 3-hour training sessions if you plan to provide direct care to the mothers and babies. Please attend our next training on January 11th to familiarize yourself with our organization, our mission, and with the various ways you can support Bethesda House. Training begins at 9:00am but we invite you to join us at 8:45 for coffee! Register today >> https://bethesdahousema.org/get-involved/direct-care-volunteering/
REQUEST TO ALL ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS
At Bethesda House, policies and procedures are constantly changing and in order for us to keep up with our growth it is imperative that active volunteers are on the same page. We have offered three refresher sessions earlier this fall so we are asking those of you who have not yet attended to select either of the following options:

1: Moving forward, refreshers will be covered in the first half of our regularly scheduled New Volunteer Sessions. The next two Volunteer Training sessions are being held: March 12th and May 14th. Register for a training session: https://bethesdahousema.org/get-involved/direct-care-volunteering/

2: Let us know that you are no longer interested/able to volunteer at Bethesda House. Please email [email protected] to let us know that we should remove you from our volunteer alert lists. We understand that life is busy and that interests change but we hope that you will continue to support Bethesda House in other ways.
