Missy's Message

Like many of you, I’ve been feeling dazed and dumbfounded by the recent rulings against the unborn. But rather than feeling discouraged and losing heart, we must remember that God is in control. Let’s see this as an opportunity to take action. Because of God’s amazing work and people’s hearts to help, we can offer Bethesda House as a very viable option. We need to make our home known to women who feel they don’t have options.

Many of us (myself included) have become passive in the area of defending the unborn. We know what the Bible says about it, we know that we believe life starts at conception, we know we want to help others but what are we doing? While those that believe differently are taking action and moving their agenda forward, we sit quietly. While we were sitting quietly, New York passed a law to allow a woman to abort her child at any point during pregnancy. Then, while we were sitting with our mouths wide open, trying to absorb this latest insult to the unborn, Governor Cuomo lit up One World Trade Center in pink in celebration of being able to abort babies until birth. WE CANNOT SIT quiet anymore. We are called to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

We can take action NOW:
1) Join us for VOICE for LIFE on March 11th, a meeting to address what actions we can take to defend life. Read more below.
2) Legislation similar to New York’s has been proposed here in Massachusetts. A simple way to be a voice for the unborn is to contact MA Legislators. Read more below.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.

We believe the Lord is calling us to action through Bethesda House. For many, we simply don’t know what to do. Let’s come together and put our heads, hearts and voices together and come up with ideas on what we can do to defend life. We must agree ahead of time that everything will be done in love and sensitivity as unto the Lord. We’re not about shame and guilt but rather truth in love.

Please join us for our initial meeting:

* * Help Us Identify Local Business Partners
Please help us spread the word to local businesses that we are looking for partners for our two largest fundraising events, the Spring Gala and the Soccer Tournament. If you have a special relationship with a local business, would you please share some materials with them about our mission and events? Below you'll find two flyers to distribute to fundraising partners who are willing to partner with Bethesda House to help new mothers become self-sufficient. Thank you!

** We Have Rooms Available!
We urge you to share Bethesda House with your network of friends and family. You never know who may know a pregnant woman seeking a home. Our generous volunteers give love and support to pregnant or parenting mothers needing a safe place to call home. We have love to give and rooms open in our newly remodeled home. Every mother gets a single room to share with her baby.
Donation Needs
** Bethesda House is in need of expendable items on a regular basis. This month, we are specifically in short supply of toilet paper, sponges and cleaning supplies.

** Bethesda House Amazon Wishlist
As we have moved into our new property, we have needs for many additional household items. We have updated our Amazon wishlist for supporters to help make the new house a comfortable and nurturing home for our young moms and their babies. Check back frequently as we will be updating the list regularly!
And, as always, thank you for your continued generosity.
Yours Sincerely,

Missy Porter, RN
Co-Founder/Director of Bethesda House
