Missy's Message

Greetings,
So many people are part of making Bethesda House successful. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you do. Whether you provide direct care or you support us financially, whatever you do…THANK YOU, because we couldn’t do it with out you. We have been praying that God would bring the moms and babies He wants us to love and care for to Bethesda House. We welcomed our 24 th young mom to BH today! That means we are currently housing six young women: three pregnant and three with babies.  Our capacity had been five but now is eight.

With this increase in numbers comes increase in needed support. So, we ask you to consider where you might plug in if you are not already. Whether it’s financial giving, volunteering or both, we need your support. Please come alongside us as we show these beautiful young women and their precious babies the love of Christ.

Anyone looking to volunteer by providing direct care to the moms and babies can attend a training. Or if you have already been trained, please visit the Volunteer Center to update your role with Bethesda House.

VOICE FOR LIFE UPDATE
We've started a group "Voice for Life" as a non-denominational movement of compassionate individuals whose call is to:

  • Be a voice for the voiceless and vulnerable pre-born baby.
  • Awaken our community to action.
  • Equip people to speak the truth in love.

We are planning our first event:  Leaders for Life for June 13th. We are gathering church leaders on the South Shore and their spouses to address the statistic that "4 of 10 women choosing abortion attend church" that is of great concern to us. What can we do to support unplanned pregnancies in the church?

Can you please share this meeting with your church leaders?

Save the date for our fourth annual soccer tournament fundraiser! We have received some amazing donations for a spectacular raffle so be sure to stop by to take your chance at a great prize, grab a snack at our snack bar and watch some great soccer.

SEEKING SOCCER TOURNAMENT VOLUNTEERS!
Our volunteers are what make this event such a success! The major areas we are looking for help are on the day of the event: include set-up and break-down, checking teams in, selling raffle tickets, managing the snack bar, face painting etc. We have set up a list of needs using SignUpGenius where you can sign up and manage your time slot. Please help us make this another great fundraising event for Bethesda House.

No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.

This is your opportunity to learn about Bethesda House, our mission, and how you can help our dream become a reality! There are numerous areas where you can use your God-given talents to support Bethesda House where opportunities are flexible depending on your availability. We require that you attend one of our 3-hour training sessions if you plan to provide direct care to the mothers and babies. Please attend the training to familiarize yourself with our organization, our mission, and with the various ways to support Bethesda House including:

⋆ 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Driving to doctors appointments, classes, work, daycare and more.
⋆ 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞: Providing a family atmosphere for dinner prep, modeling family style dining and supporting moms at the end of a long day.
⋆ 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: Taking care of the babies so moms can attend bible study, life skills training or study for an upcoming educational need.
⋆ 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐌𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞: Being present at BH in the early weeks of motherhood for a postpartum mom and her newborn providing much needed support and love.
⋆ 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬: Helping moms establish good study habits and providing support for their educational goals.

The training session begins at 9:00am but we invite you for coffee and check-in starting at 8:45!
SPRING GALA-- A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS
Thank you to each sponsor, attendee and volunteer who helped put together a spectacular evening. Together as a community we raised $26,000 to put toward a new heating system for our large home. We have posted a slideshow of the event to the website.

DONATIONS NEEDS
** Bethesda House is in need of expendable items on a regular basis. This month, we are specifically in short supply of:
  • sunscreen for both mother and baby,
  • Clorox wipes, and
  • postage stamps.

** Bethesda House Amazon Wishlist
As with any home, we have a constant need of various household items. We have updated our Amazon wishlist for supporters to help make the new house a comfortable and nurturing home for our young moms and their babies. Check back frequently as we will be updating the list regularly!
And, as always, thank you for your continued generosity.
Yours sincerely,

Missy Porter, RN
