It was more than a year ago that sixteen-year-old Hale Lieberman, who plays on Bethesda Soccer Club’s 2000 Boys Blue team, decided to establish a local soccer camp for children with physical and developmental disabilities. “Being able to play soccer and be a part of a team is an experience many kids take for granted, but it’s an opportunity that children with physical or developmental disabilities often miss out on,” says Gena Mitchell, a 2003 BSC Girls parent who is the founder of Devenio’s Fun Bunch soccer program – a soccer league for children with special needs. 

In order for programs like these to succeed they need the help of many volunteers. And last year Hale Lieberman knew that in order for his first-year camp called Jacob’s Camp to succeed, he would need to attract campers and volunteer counselors.
