Bethlehem University Foundation Makes Extraordinary Gifts of More Than $1.5 Million to Bethlehem University in Response to COVID-19 Pandemic

Foundation challenges other organizations to follow suit
BELTSVILLE, MD With the continuing closures of the city of Bethlehem and the total shutdown of the tourism industry, many families of Bethlehem University continue to struggle. People have faced incredible financial hardship, leaving Bethlehem University unable to collect outstanding tuition. The effect on the operational budget of the University has been devastating leaving a gap of more than $3 million dollars.

In order to help alleviate some of the University’s financial challenges, the Board of Directors of the Bethlehem University Foundation recently made an extraordinary grant of $1.5 million dollars to Bethlehem University from the Bethlehem University Foundation Endowment.

Additionally, the Foundation ran a special Annual Fund campaign to support Bethlehem University during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the generous support of donors like you, the campaign raised more than $76,000 dollars which was gifted to the University as a grant from the Foundation. The Annual Fund is a Board-restricted fund that allows the Foundation to respond to the most pressing needs faced by Bethlehem University.

Even with these two extraordinary gifts from the Foundation, Bethlehem University continues to face a crippling deficit. It is in need of another $1.5 million dollars and has sent this request worldwide.

The Foundation challenges our sister organizations in support of the people in the Holy Land, to “dig deep” and respond generously to the needs of Bethlehem University.

Additionally, we ask if you are a member of an organization capable of donating to help Bethlehem University, please champion this cause.

The Foundation continues in its ministry of promoting and supporting Bethlehem University especially during this very difficult time. As always, your prayers and support are greatly appreciated.
