“Hurry up and wait” has long been the modus operandi for those tracking the introduction and implementation of Brazil’s regulated gaming market.

Despite a gaming legalization and regulation process plagued by uncertainty and numerous false starts, Brazil continues to be one of the most anticipated and closely followed markets in Latin America. In recent years, The Innovation Group has worked with clients to size the broader Brazilian gaming opportunity—as well as drill down on specific markets within the country—and the numbers certainly justify the level of interest.

For the July issue of Global Gaming Business (GGB) magazine, The Innovation Group (TIG) Senior Vice President, Development & Economic Analysis Mike Vanaskie outlines recent movements indicating the sleeping giant that is Brazil’s gaming market may finally be waking up—for some forms of gaming, at least.

TIG recently announced, on behalf of its Emerging Leaders of Gaming (ELG) program, the appointment of several industry leaders to a new selection committee for its annual ELG 40 Under 40. The esteemed group, which represents a cross-section of industry sectors, fields and backgrounds, includes Alex Dixon, President & CEO, Q Casino and DRA, Daron Dorsey, Executive Director, Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM); Alan Feldman, Distinguished Fellow in Responsible Gaming, International Gaming Institute at UNLV; Kelly Hatch, Executive Director, Global Gaming Women (GGW); and Sheila Morago, COO and Partner, Trilogy Group. The selection committee will name 40 individuals to the “ELG 40 Under 40,” a program and honor organized with our partner GGB magazine, from an industrywide nomination process. Nominations, due August 1, can be submitted for yourself or an industry colleague.

The ELG 40 Under 40 is sponsored by AGEM, IAGA, and Regulatory Management Counselors, and supported by G2E.
