North Central Electric Cooperative has announced its plans to renovate its headquarters to improve member interaction, employee relations and community participation with work commencing on May 17.
“After almost a year of review, speaking with community leaders and employees, we have found a design that will allow us to make adequate changes to improve our member experience, increase productivity and provide an outlet for our growing communities to meet and interact,” said General Manager Ed VanHoose.
In addition to increasing workspace to allow for better collaboration amongst employees, the new plan calls for a community center that can be utilized by groups for meetings, events, and ceremonies.
“The community and our members are why we do everything that we do. Improving the way of life was a primary factor for neighbors coming together in forming the co-op in the 1930s to bring electricity to rural communities. Now, we find a need to bring neighbors together to continue the growth and availability of the same types of luxuries and services they enjoy in urban settings,” Ed continued.
The original building was built more than 30 years ago in 1991 under General Manager Fred Shatzer and Board President Dale Lewis. The renovations will allow the building to continue growing and improving member programs and community involvement.
