McCann wins District 2 election

Over 500 members attended Lorain-Medina Rural Electric's 88th Annual Meeting on July 9 via Zoom, where Brady McCann was officially announced as the winner of the District 2 election for the cooperative's board of directors.

McCann, a resident of Pittsfield Township in Lorain County, ran against LMRE member John Ciarrone in the general election. He began his duties as the representative of District 2 at the July board meeting, a position previously held by longtime board member Jim McConnell, who retired from the board at the completion of his term in June.

June outage report

LMRE experienced 47 outages in June, most of which were caused by birds and animals.

The longest outage occurred during the wind storm that swept through LMRE's service territory in June. This outage was due to an equipment issue with First Energy, who suffered severe damage to their lines and poles (which LMRE has joint use of) following the storm.

LMRE rerouted power in the short term to restore service to our members within a few hours while First Energy crews worked on major repairs to their damaged equipment. LMRE crews returned the next morning and worked well into the night to repair the portions of our system affected.

In July, LMRE Safety Coordinator Mike Stahl and apprentice linemen Nick Keys and Logan Sponsler conducted a live line safety demonstration for the Wellington Firefighter's Association and other surrounding departments. It's always a pleasure to provide electric safety knowledge to the people in our neighborhoods! If you or an organization you know is interested in scheduling a live-line safety demonstration, please contact us at 440-647-2133.
