Ohio Congressman Balderson leads effort to stop Biden's plan to shut down power plants

Ohio Congressman Troy Balderson (OH-12) launched the bipartisan push for the Congressional Review Act, and 138 House colleagues joined him in the challenge to the Biden Administration’s plan to shut down coal power plants across the country, including in Ohio.

Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), simultaneously led 43 of her colleagues in introducing an identical resolution in the United States Senate.

The new EPA rules targeting both coal and natural gas power plants were released last month and pose a great threat to the reliability and affordability of electricity for cooperative members, and all users of electricity.

The rules are part of the administration’s Clean Air Act, now dubbed Clean Power Plan 2.0.

April outage report

NCE experienced 16 outages in April, mostly resulting from weather conditions and animal activity. These storms brought high winds, leading to equipment damage throughout the service area.

The restoration time for power depends on the location and severity of the damage. We greatly appreciate our members' patience as NCE crews work swiftly and safely to restore service.

Reminder - outages can be reported 24/7 to the cooperative by calling

800-426-3072.

NCE bringing live line safety into the classroom

Safety and Compliance Coordinator Mike Stahl, with the assistance of NCE Apprentice Linemen Andrew Willman and Clint Wurm, conducted two live line safety demonstrations for local schools.

NCE presented the live line demonstration for McPherson Middle School and Buckeye Central Middle School students. The demonstration introduces students to the hazards of downed lines and stresses the importance of staying away from fallen power lines.

The students saw what could happen when a person comes into contact with downed lines due to storm damage, accidents, fire on electric poles, and much more.

Our live line demonstrations are part of an increased effort to spread the message about electrical safety to students, members of the cooperative, and first responders. If you know a group who may be interested in having a live line demonstration, reach out to the co-op at 419-426-3072.
