Library of the Macabre

Happy Halloween from the

Glen Ridge Public Library!

Halloween, a holiday steeped in mystery and tradition, is the perfect time to indulge in the art of telling scary stories. This annual celebration, with roots in ancient Celtic festivals and Christian traditions, invites us to embrace the eerie and the unknown.

As the nights grow longer and the air crisp, tales of ghosts, goblins, and otherworldly encounters captivate our imaginations. These stories, often shared around bonfires or whispered in darkened rooms, evoke a sense of communal thrill and anticipation, as they transport us to worlds where the line between reality and the supernatural blurs. Halloween, with its rich history and traditions, provides the perfect backdrop for these narratives, inviting both storytellers and audiences to explore the unknown and revel in the thrill of a good fright.

Library of Things Policy Update

Just a reminder that the overdue fines for all Library of Things (LOT) items and Museum Passes is $5.00 per day with a max fee of $20.00, as of 9/11/2024.

Borrowers who return LOT items late or fail to pick up their reserved items more than three times during a twelve month period may have their LOT privileges suspended or revoked.

The success of this collection relies on the materials being returned on time so that the next borrower can have the item as reserved.
