Tuesday Book Club

The Tuesday Book Club meets at 1:00 in Room 4b. All are welcome to join for rich connection and discussion. On October 1, they will begin a new book: Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi by Amy-Jill Levine. If you have any questions, reach out to Pastor Jody.

We wanted to remind everyone that, if you have unwanted firearms in your possession, through our partnership with Raw Tools South, we can facilitate a safe surrender. Raw Tools South transforms guns into garden tools to fulfill their mission of disarming hearts, forging peace, and cultivating justice. Contact April if you'd like to learn more.

Respite Demo Has Begun

As walls come down, and light pours in, dreams of a renovated, expanded space of connection and healing are coming true. To learn more about the Respite expansion, click here.

Construction will impact the Downtown Welcome Table kitchen and dish room. In the coming weeks, we will be dining outside on Wednesdays. To be able to pivot to outdoor dining, we could use some support with serving ware and canopies. We've created a wish list so that you can order online and the items will be shipped directly to us.

Rental applications for Lady Gloria Ridge Community are now available on the HSCD website. If you do not have access to a printer to print the application, you can pick one up at Haywood St. Click here for the application.

As part of the 2025 Blue Ridge Pride Festival, join faith groups from the Asheville area for a joyful service grounded in the shared belief in a loving God before heading to the Blue Ridge Pride Festival in Pack Square Park. This one-hour service will conclude with coffee and treats on the Central UMC lawn.

Haywood Street Highlights

Jeanette, LaLa, and LoLo reflecting how Wednesdays at Haywood Street are all about joy and friendship.

To be in relationship is to see one another in intentional ways. The salon fosters that each Wednesday from 10 - 12. Shown here are Tracy and Kim.

Big shout out to the Art in the Alley team for not only rising to the task of moving outside because of construction, but to adding a whole new medium to their offerings. They hung large rolls of heavy paper from a pop up tent to be used as a canvas for spray painted artwork. It was very popular for artists and folks walking by.

A witness to include the most excluded, Haywood Street not only welcomes every child of God–especially beloved siblings of every mental illness and physical disability, addiction and diagnosis, living condition and employment status, gender identity and sexual orientation, class, color, and creed–but we celebrate your presence, certain that the kingdom of God is coming closer because you are here.
