Featured Donor: Nancy Walsh
Nancy Walsh is a busy woman even in retirement. She recently relocated to Sedona from California, no easy feat during Covid-19! She has already stepped up to help out in the community at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, and she serves as the Arizona State Director of the State Guard Association of the U.S. When not volunteering or unpacking, Nancy is an avid reader and library user. She has visited the Library since 1983 when her parents retired here. She appreciates the library and Storywalk in Sunset Park where she walks Maya (pictured at left). Nancy's love of libraries began early, and she volunteered at her elementary school library. Academics and athletics were priorities through college, and she played professional softball before her long career at Southern California Gas. Often having too little time to read, she discovered audio books for her long daily commute. Now she is using these quiet days to decide what's next. Whatever it is, we know we'll see her at the library. We welcome Nancy (and Maya) to the community as permanent residents. Thank you, Nancy, for years of support.
Thank You!
End-of-Year Campaign A Success!
With your help, we met the matching gift provided by a long-time donor and volunteer. As your support poured in during December, the match grew from its original $15,000 to $30,000. We met that final matching gift amount by December 29th, but gifts continued to arrive through midnight on New Year’s Eve. Thank you! Read all about the successful campaign, and fresh library perspectives from our new director, Judy Poe.
26th Annual Quilt Show!
Collaboration is a great way to support your library, and we are grateful for partners like the Red Rock Quilters! Please join us for the 26th Annual Quilt Show and see more than 50 amazing hand-crafted quilts on display against the architectural beauty of the Library. We again ring in a New Year with a visual feast, on display now through March 5, 2021.
It's Tax Time! Remember TUCD
Not itemizing on your 2020 tax returns? Then you may appreciate the Temporary Universal Charitable Deduction (TUCD). According to the Association of Fundraising Professions (AFP), "Taxpayers who do not itemize their deductions can take a one-time deduction of up to $300 for gifts made to charitable organizations. The deduction is ONLY for gifts of cash made in calendar year 2020 and does not cover other types of gifts or contributions made to donor-advised funds or private foundations." Thanks to so many of you for thinking of us as you considered your charitable giving.
