A Note from the Chamber President

Dear Members and PG Chamber Community,

I’m writing today to inform you of an important transition at the Prince George Chamber of Commerce. Neil Godbout has been appointed as the permanent Executive Director, following former CEO Quynlan Young’s decision not to return after her maternity leave.

On behalf of the Board and staff, I want to express our gratitude to Quynlan for her exceptional leadership and dedication. Her contributions have left a lasting impact on the Chamber and our community, and we wish her all the best as she focuses on her family and future endeavors.

Neil brings decades of experience in leadership, communications, and community advocacy. His background includes award-winning journalism and active involvement in local organizations, consistently demonstrating a talent for addressing complex issues and driving impactful initiatives throughout his interim role.

There are a lot of exciting things coming in 2025, and these initiatives reflect our continued commitment to advancing the interests of our members and strengthening our ties within the business community. With Neil at the helm, I’m confident the Chamber is well-positioned for continued success.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the Chamber. Together, we will make 2025 a successful and impactful year for businesses in Prince George.

Warm regards,

Cathy Mackay

President

A Note from the Executive Director

Hadih and Happy New Year.

So it looks like you’re stuck with me.

Quynlan Young, the Chamber’s CEO (currently on maternity leave, hence my appointment on a one-year contract as Executive Director), has formally resigned her position to focus on her young family, meaning I’ll be staying on here at the Chamber (and staying with the ED job title).

On behalf of myself, the staff, and the board of directors, I want to thank Quyn for her years of service to the Chamber and wish her the very best going forward. For those of us who are parents with older or grown children, we know the journey Quyn is on, how special it is, how both challenging and rewarding it will be in the months and years ahead, and how the job that is parenting has been – and will always be – far more important than any other job we can have.

Chamber members now have access to select complimentary HR expertise for their business from the largest Canadian-owned human resources provider in the country, HR Covered.

The Chamber's newest affinity program with HR Covered includes several human resource offerings at no charge, including:

  • Unlimited access to the HR Hub library containing 1,000+ HR documents, policies and forms for all jurisdictions in Canada. Chamber members can click here to register. Watch this video for a quick overview on how to access and use the Hub.
  • Access to engaging webinars on various HR related topics.
  • Compliant policy manual to protect your organization. HR Covered will create and review your new manual, address legislative compliance, and pinpoint any HR vulnerabilities. Chamber members can click here to book a 45-minute meeting to have a customized manual created for your business today.

HR Covered is the preferred partner of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, of which the Prince George Chamber is an active member, and more than 100 other community Chambers across Canada. HR Covered will be reaching out to Prince George Chamber members in the near future to answer questions about these new services.

This new collaboration is the first of many new partnerships we’re working on to give our loyal members value to their business.

Lastly, our Annual General Meeting is scheduled for April 23. That’s where we elect new members to our board of directors. If you’d like to join our board, please drop me a line and I’ll be happy to answer any questions.

All the best,

Neil
