Hello September! Early sunsets, warm tea, big sweaters, golden trees and yoga. We have an exciting fall planned for our community... it will " leaf" you breathless. 


Here are 4 new workshops for you to enjoy...

Let's Talk Yoga - Tea, Community and Conversation with Sylvie Gouin - Thursday, Sept. 26th, Monday, Oct. 2nd and Oct. 26th. This class is being offered in both the mornings and evenings. Only $8 + HST for Beyond Benefit Members ($18 + HST regular fee). 

More about the Pelvic Floor - Part 2. The series continues with Kerri Morrison-McCabe on Saturday, Oct. 28th.

Yin and Restorative classes will ease you into relaxing Sunday afternoons with Dawn-Marie Bourgeois - Hips - Oct. 15th, Back - Nov. 5th and Upper Body - Dec. 3rd.

Treat yourself and enjoy a Thai Restorative Yoga Class with Suzanne McCafferty and Carole Houde - Wednesday - Oct. 18th & Nov. 15th and Sunday, Dec. 2nd.

Labour Day Schedule

Beyond will be open this Saturday and Sunday for all regularly scheduled classes and closed on Monday for Labour Day. Put your feet up and enjoy! 

YOGA BEYOND WORDS with Cara-Lynne

If you are of a certain age, or into retro tv, you know this theme song to the popular show Cheers.  It was so beloved in our house, my sister's boyfriend (now husband) would have her hold up our corded rotary telephone so he could listen to it while working.
_We had the more modern beige version.

Regardless of how one actually feels about Sam and Diane's quandry or Norm's quips, almost everyone I know loves that theme song.  For good reason really, its simple lyrics are really quite poetic and while researching the definition of community for this blog, really quite accurate. "You wanna go where people know, people are all the same...you wanna be where you can see our troubles are all the same.."

After all, who doesn't want to go "where they are always glad you came..."

WELLNESS TIPS with Therapeutic Effects

Plantar Fasciitis

As the summer draws to an end, have you noticed a bit of stiffness in your feet in the morning when you wake up?  Maybe even a burning sensation around the heel? If you sported sandals and/or flipflops for most of the summer then you have probably tightened up the fascia in your feet and calves. These are the starting signs of plantar fasciitis. This can be easily remedied by doing calf stretches multiple times per day and soaking your feet in an epsom salt foot bath a few times per week. Your massage therapist can also help to decrease the fascial tension in your calves and feet!

HEALTHY RECIPES with Emily Fitzgerald - Nutrition Coach

Raspberry Banana Sorbet

Whip up this refreshing, 3-ingredient sorbet for your family and friends.  A healthy frozen treat for all!

Serves: 3-4
  • 1 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 medium banana
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • Garnish: frozen raspberries
  1. Place ingredients into a food processor and process until smooth.
  2. Pour mixture into a glass container and place into the freezer for at least 3 hours. Once frozen, scoop into bowl and sprinkle the top with frozen raspberries

You'll get to visit the Foundation's Cancer Coaching Suite at Beyond Yoga in Kanata, and you'll hear how Cancer Coaching can help your loved ones who are facing cancer from Mark Cooke, President of M-Roc, Linda Eagen, President and CEO of the Cancer Foundation, and Patti Barrett-Robillard, one of our Cancer Coaches.
