Greetings!

The newest issue of Beyond Housing is here.

In Volume 3, ICPH continues its solutions-driven dialogue on family homelessness—examining how housing instability shapes children’s development, education, and well-being from infancy through young adulthood.

Featuring perspectives from Mary’s Place (Seattle), HFH (New York City), Lotus House (Miami), and SchoolHouse Connection (National), this issue explores how systems, schools, and supportive relationships can change life trajectories for young people experiencing homelessness.

Visit ICPH.org to explore past volumes of the magazine.

In This Issue:

  • Q&A: Addressing the Mental Health Needs of Children and Youth in Shelter
  • The Foundation Years: Ensuring Educational Access For Young Children Experiencing Homelessness
  • Childhood Milestones and Missed Moments: What Homelessness Interrupts and How Support Programs Help Restore Them
  • From High School to Higher Education: Closing the Gaps for Students Experiencing Homelessness
  • Tech on the Tightrope: Balancing Access and Risk for Students Experiencing Homelessness

What We’ve Been Up To:

This September, ICPH will sponsor the Child/Youth track at the National Women’s Shelter Network (NWSN) Conference in Tucson, Arizona. We look forward to continuing the conversation about advancing solutions for families experiencing homelessness.

What You’ve Been Up To:

NYC’s New Destiny held its annual symposium on domestic violence housing with sessions focusing on addressing emotional wellbeing, supportive housing for survivors, the effectiveness of rapid rehousing for survivors, providing direct financial support to break the poverty cycle, and more. To learn more about New Destiny’s work, visit NewDestinyHousing.org.

SchoolHouse Connection outlined key wins in the Congressional Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations that will benefit children, youth, and families experiencing homelessness. You can follow their federal policy tracker to learn more about how this will impact education, childcare and early childhood education, college, and homeless assistance and housing programs.
