One of the great things about yoga is how vast it is. Yoga practice includes a variety of asanas (yoga postures), meditations, breathing techniques, lifestyle practices and more. And, regardless of what our starting point is or what our aspirations are, there is a yoga practice that's right for us. Plus, with time, what we want from our practice and what we're willing to exchange to meet our desire also changes.
At Beyond Yoga Studio & Wellness Centre, each of our experienced teachers has their unique way of sharing what they appreciate most about the practice, which means that, as a student, you are promised constant guidance. Whether you're starting off, are coming back after a long break or have been practicing for years, our variety of classes led by expert teachers will keep you inspired to unroll your mat. In addition, we also offer fitness classes, Pilates inspired classes, Zumba gold and our specialty classes include Qigong practices.
Learn more about our classes by visiting the Class Styles and Description page of our website. You may even feel the pull to try something new.

An invitation to rest and renew.
In this very special class, we pair yin yoga with the magical and soothing sounds of live cello music!
Yin yoga supports a gradual unwinding of stress and tension from our bodies and the circulation of vital energy through the tissues and meridian pathways of the body. Combining body scans, breathwork, and visualization, this specialty class will teach you how to apply the technique of dynamic relaxation to your yin practice. Dynamic relaxation guides the practitioner through the process of complete release, letting go and loosening of unnecessary tension.
When we combine this practice with the relaxing melodies of the cello played live in-person, we set the stage for a powerfully healing experience.
This class ends with a healing crystal bowl sound bath.

This wonderfully restorative experience combines Restorative Yoga with Crystal Healing and Reiki.
While in Restorative postures, crystals will be placed on different parts of the body including hands, chest and abdomen as well as around you.
The healing effects of the crystals will be enhanced with Reiki which is a form of energy healing in which the practitioner acts as an empty reed for universal energy to flow through creating a calming and relaxing effect.
Julie is a certified Crystal Healer and a Level 3 Reiki practitioner in the Usui tradition with 30 years of experience.

Reiki is the universal life energy, called chi or prana, that exists in every living thing. As described in eastern healing practices like Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda, Reiki energy travels through meridians in our body, which are essentially veins but carry energy instead of blood. If the energy gets sluggish or stuck in our meridians, this can cause stagnation in our body and mind.
As a hands-on healing approach, Reiki gently allows for the distribution and integration of energy through these meridians to increase overall well-being. With a calming effect on the nervous system, research shows that Reiki can help reduce pain, stress and fatigue. As a safe and non-invasive approach to health, Reiki is also used world-wide to assist in the healing protocol for a variety of ailments or we can simply use Reiki to rejuvenate the body and mind.
Reiki is open to everyone. There are no prerequisites.

Over the next 20 years, Canada’s seniors’ population — those age 65 and older — is expected to grow by close to 70 %. As the population continues to age, it is more important than ever for seniors to take a proactive approach to their health. Falls are much more likely to occur as we get older. A regular and accessible yoga practice that not only builds strength and flexibility but also maintains and improves the body’s complex balancing systems, can contribute to a healthy quality of life in later years.
This Chair Yoga Teacher Training Certification Program is designed to provide yoga teachers, senior fitness instructors and health care professionals with the knowledge needed to offer chair yoga practices to seniors and/or those who have physical challenges, pre-existing medical conditions or who might be recovering from an injury.
Many of the principles can be translated to someone who sits at a desk all day or who is new to yoga and wants an accessible practice.
Created to meet the growing demand for chair yoga teachers this program includes yoga practice, theory (specific to ageing), a separate module on teaching balance, hands on
practical training and interactive discussion.
