Staying involved in the Bloomington/Normal area, and beyond.
Where do you fit... Beyond the Bricks?

Welcome... to the latest issue of
Beyond the Bricks!

Dear Christian Friends,

John McCain's funeral was a poignant tribute to an exemplary American. Those who eulogized him spoke eloquently of his commitment to our nation. He was one, we were told, who placed country over self.

As Christians, we are called to place God over self. Just as McCain lived his life for a higher good, so are we to live our lives for the highest good.

How are you doing on that? How well do you live your life for God?

May each of us have the courage and faith we need to lead lives worthy of our calling as Christians.

In Christ,
Jim Warren

Volunteer at INtegRIty Counseling

Hours Vary
INtegRIty Counseling
502 S. Morris Ave., Suite D
Bloomington, IL  61701

INtegRIty Counseling has expanded its hours and is looking for front desk reception volunteers. We need both regular volunteers (two hours or more per week) and substitute volunteers who can be called when someone is ill or on vacation. We especially need volunteers for late afternoons, evenings, and every other Saturday morning.

Our reception volunteers answer our phones, do phone screenings, and help schedule clients based on counselor availability.  We are flexible with schedules and are a great volunteer placement for retirees and students. For more information contact Luella at 309-827-9100 or email info@integrityhelps.org
The Political Jesus Seminar

Friday and Saturday, September 14-15, 2018
New Covenant Community
210 W. Mulberry St.
Normal, IL  61761

The Jesus of history resisted the political and social realities of his day. Early Christians did the same. Neither one was necessarily successful in their aims, but what do we know about their attitudes toward the economy, immigrants, and war? How did Jesus and emerging Christ communities express concerns for justice and peace? Looking at the world today, what would they say about American politics?

We are excited to announce that the Jesus Seminar on the Road will be coming back to Normal IL on Sept. 14-15, 2018 addressing the very timely topic of "The Political Jesus." See the flyer for registration info and other details.
