Staying involved in the Bloomington/Normal area, and beyond.
Where do you fit... Beyond the Bricks?

Welcome... to the latest issue of
Beyond the Bricks!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The news coming from the Carolinas has been disturbing.  Hurricane Florence caused massive flooding and left a wide path of destruction.  I hope all of us will find a way to help.

I especially want to call your attention to the Week of Compassion.  WoC is our church's disaster relief fund that provides assistance when natural disasters strike.  WoC is already present in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, and will continue to be there as the rebuilding begins and progresses.  I believe strongly in the work WoC does.

If you'd like to contribute to WoC's disaster relief in the Carolinas, note that on your check to First Christian.  Let's do what we can to help those who've been devastated by Florence.

In Christ's love,
Jim Warren

The Third Annual Bed Blitz is a community driven project sponsored by The Tool Library, Youth Build McLean County and West Bloomington Revitalization Project, where we will be building beds for children in the McLean County area. To make this event a success, we need the help of individuals and groups around the community to attend our Bed Blitz event on Saturday October 20th.

There will be two shifts throughout the day and you can sign up with a group to help build beds (no construction experience required!) as an individual or sign up as a group! We will be using a new plan and template this year that simplifies the building process and improves the portability of the bed frames for receiving families allowing our groups to build more beds in less time!

Volunteer at INtegRIty Counseling

Hours Vary
INtegRIty Counseling
502 S. Morris Ave., Suite D
Bloomington, IL  61701

INtegRIty Counseling has expanded its hours and is looking for front desk reception volunteers. We need both regular volunteers (two hours or more per week) and substitute volunteers who can be called when someone is ill or on vacation. We especially need volunteers for late afternoons, evenings, and every other Saturday morning.

Our reception volunteers answer our phones, do phone screenings, and help schedule clients based on counselor availability.  We are flexible with schedules and are a great volunteer placement for retirees and students.
