Staying involved in the Bloomington/Normal area, and beyond.
Where do you fit... Beyond the Bricks?

Welcome... to the latest issue of
Beyond the Bricks!

Dear Christian Friends,
Our kids are back in school, and we hope that they have a great year.  Our church marked the beginning of the school year a couple of weeks ago by blessing backpacks and making our prayer focus the students, teachers, administrators, and staff who are beginning school.
I encourage you to keep on praying throughout the school year for our schools.  Pray that:
  • Students, teachers, administrators, and staff will have a good, productive, and safe year.
  • Students who struggle in school will receive the help, support, and attention they need.
  • Teachers will be filled with wisdom, insight, compassion, and love.
  • Administrators and other staff will perform their duties with skill, openness, fairness, and caring.
  • I also encourage you to pray by name for the children and adults you know who are involved in education.
Are there other prayers you have for our schools?
All of us recognize the value of a good education.  Thank the educators you know for their commitment to our children and youth.

The Political Jesus Seminar

Friday and Saturday, September 14-15, 2018
New Covenant Community
210 W. Mulberry St.
Normal, IL  61761

The Jesus of history resisted the political and social realities of his day. Early Christians did the same. Neither one was necessarily successful in their aims, but what do we know about their attitudes toward the economy, immigrants, and war? How did Jesus and emerging Christ communities express concerns for justice and peace? Looking at the world today, what would they say about American politics?

We are excited to announce that the Jesus Seminar on the Road will be coming back to Normal IL on Sept. 14-15, 2018 addressing the very timely topic of "The Political Jesus." See the flyer for registration info and other details.
