Staying involved in the Bloomington/Normal area, and beyond.
Where do you fit... Beyond the Bricks?

Welcome... to the latest issue of
Beyond the Bricks!

Dear Friends in Christ,
975 school kits given away and 1,500 hot dogs consumed.  Those are two of the statistics from last Saturday's Block Party.  It was a great day, and a good time was had by all.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in making this year's 20th annual Block Party such a success.  The connections we made with our neighbors and with other churches are invaluable.
Being a Christian is all about loving and serving others.  That's what we did last Saturday at the Block Party.  That's what Christ asks us to do every day.
How are you reaching out in love to those around you?
Grace and peace,
Jim Warren

Get Involved with Homes of Hope
Homes of Hope, Inc.
705 E Lincoln Street, Suite 313
Normal, IL 61761
The dream of providing quality living to adults with intellectual disabilities in Central Illinois began in the early 1990s.  Concerned parents wondering how their children would be cared for when they were unable to do so set the wheels in motion for the construction of our first home or Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA).  Read more at the Homes of Hope website.
We are looking for new individuals to join any of our three committees. This is a chance for your voice to be heard! Bring your fresh, new ideas to the table and assist us in growing and developing our existing fundraisers and programs! Help us network and spread the good word about our organization and the work that we do. This is a volunteer opportunity but can be used as a reference for a job well done.

The Political Jesus Seminar

Friday and Saturday, September 14-15, 2018
New Covenant Community
210 W. Mulberry St.
Normal, IL  61761

The Jesus of history resisted the political and social realities of his day. Early Christians did the same. Neither one was necessarily successful in their aims, but what do we know about their attitudes toward the economy, immigrants, and war? How did Jesus and emerging Christ communities express concerns for justice and peace? Looking at the world today, what would they say about American politics?

We are excited to announce that the Jesus Seminar on the Road will be coming back to Normal IL on Sept. 14-15, 2018 addressing the very timely topic of "The Political Jesus." See the flyer for registration info and other details.
