PUSHING CONGRESS TO THE 21ST CENTURY
The Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress is pushing ahead with a bipartisan approach that could produce some of the most important work of the 116th Congress.

“I think the American people certainly see a lot of what happens here and think, ‘Dear God, why is it this broken?’ ” said Rep. Derek Kilmer (D-Wash.), the chairman of the 12-member panel, on which Democrats and Republicans have an equal number of seats.

THE RAILROAD MADE TACOMA - 150 YEARS LATER STILL GOING STRONG

May 10, 2019 was the 150th anniversary of the driving of a golden spike to signify completion of an east-west railroad linking the West Coast to the rest of the nation’s rail network, an event that turbocharged an already robust drive to settle and develop the West. 

WSDOT: MORE I-5 CLOSURES
Contractor crews building a new southbound Interstate 5 bridge across the Puyallup River in Tacoma are getting ready to enter a new phase of construction that will move traffic in all lanes of I-5 from McKinley Way to the Port of Tacoma Road into new configurations.
