Bi-State Trustee Tom Butler Retires to Ireland
Our good friend and long-time Bi-State Board member Tom Butler retired last month, and is now living full-time in beautiful County Mayo, Ireland. Tom most recently served as our Trustee, and was a fixture at our meetings and events, including our annual Golf Outing. Tom's presence will be missed, and we wish him well as he enjoys this new chapter.

If you'd like to stay in touch with Tom, he can be reached by mail at: Ave Maria Nursing Home, Tooreen, County Mayo, Ireland.
Bi-State Welcomes New Board Members
The Bi-State voted to add two members to its Executive Board: Jerry Dooley (Transways) and Steve Schulein (National Retail Systems). Those who serve on the Bi-State Board do so on a volunteer basis, and we thank Jerry and Steve for donating their time and energy to our organization.
CVSA Roadcheck Set for June 4-6, Will Focus on Steering and Suspension
REMINDER: The annual Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) International Roadcheck will take place June 4-6. Over that 72-hour period, commercial motor vehicle inspectors in jurisdictions throughout North America will conduct inspections on commercial motor vehicles and drivers.

Each year, International Roadcheck places special emphasis on a category of violations. This year’s focus is steering and suspension systems.

“Steering and suspension are safety critical systems for any commercial motor vehicle,” said CVSA President Chief Jay Thompson with the Arkansas Highway Police. “Not only do they support the heavy loads carried by trucks and buses, but they also help maintain stability and control under acceleration and braking, keeping the vehicle safely on the road. Furthermore, they keep tires in alignment, reducing chances of uneven tire wear and possible tire failure, and they maximize the contact between the tires and the road to provide steering stability and good handling.”
